I purchased a new sewing machine yesterday at Costco. It's a Brother XR-9000. I have been unable to find any information about this model online. It's not even listed on the Brother website. Anyone ever heard of this machine before?

I know that Costco often carries products from manufacturers that are made specifically for Costco and thus not sold elsewhere. A woman at the store said that it was really a Kenmore machine, but I couldn't locate it on the Kenmore website either.

It's a great machine and was a wonderful value. 80 stitches, 1 basic monogram stitch, quilt table, 8 feet, 8 one touch buttons, top bobbin, etc. for $190. I bought a walking foot online and can't wait to try it out.

Sorry I can't help you, but am intrigued. Brother has the manual on their sight but no other info . Now you have peaked my curiostiy

I know what you mean! It's not as though I really need to know anything about it b/c I've got the manual and the box, but I'm still curious as to why I can't find ANY information about it.

I'm hoping some other Costco quilters will see this thread and be able to shed some light on it for me.

I picked up a Brother machine last year and never found anything online about it either. Maybe they change models more often than other companies or something. When I left an e-mail on the website, I never heard back from them.

I have 2 Brother machines. I would be willing to bet if you look at the brother-usa.com website, you will be able to find your machine- just with a different name. If not,you will find a very similiar machine that would use the same feet. Some Brother machines (such as the CE-5000 PRW ) are made only for certain stores (the CE-5000 PRW is a Walmart one). I looked at the owner's manual online for your machine, it certainly seems to be in that "family" of machines. Some are branded "Project Runway:, some aren't, but the basics of the machine are very similiar. If you look in your owner's manual, the "optional accessories" listed can be found on brothermall.com. For example, the optional foot SA129 which is a clear quilting foot can be used for all these models:

BC-1000, CE-4000, CE-5000PRW, CS-100T, CS-6000, CS-6000i, CS-6000T, CS-8072, Duetta™ 4500D, ES-2000, EX-660, HE-120, Innov-ís 1000, Innov-ís 1500D, Innov-ís 2500D, Innov-ís 2800D – New!, Innov-ís 40, Innov-ís 4000D, Innov-ís 80, Innov-ís 900D, LB6770 PRW, NX-200, NX-250, NX-400, NX-450, NX-450Q, NX-600, NX-650Q, Pacesetter™ PS21, PC-210, PC-210PRW, PC-2800, PC-3000, PC-420, PC-420PRW, PC-6000, PC-6500, PC-7000, PC-7500, PC-8200, PS-1000, PS-1250, PS-1800, PS-1950, PS-2100, PS-2200, PS-2300, PS-2500, QC-1000, Quattro™6000D – New!, SE-270D, SE-350, ULT-2001, ULT-2002D, XL-2121, XL-2230, XL-2600, XL-2600i, XL-2610, XL-3100, XL-3500, XL-3500i, XL-3500T, XL-3510, XL-5500, XL-5600, XL-5700, XL-6562 (Notice your machine isn't listed though :!: )

Chances are pretty good your machine is either one of these rebranded, or a very close model. If you need help, let me know. I LOVE my Brother machines. I have a computerized one for piecing, and a PQ-1500S
for machine quilting. I want a Brother serger for Christmas.

Sorry not heard of this machine either.
I have a question for Brother owners. I wonder if you have the same trouble as I have been having. When I use Gutterman thread my machine just hates it and knots up at the back. Gutterman does have a high fibre thread and it just breaks continually that is when its not knotting at the back.

my questions are:

Do you have the same trouble??
What thread do you use??
Do you stick to the Brother thread??

Sorry to take over this thread BTW but I thought it might also interest you if youhave problems.

I cannot help you...
I am a brother girl too...They are ususally very good machines so you will probably be very happy with it....But please let me know in case you have some more information on it and if you are happy with it.....
I have the PQ1500 which is awesome work horse machine...I have smaller machines like the XR-65 that also makes a lot for their price, and a tiny runway which I purchesed in Wall Mart for only 150$ and also works very nice....with plenty of decorative stitches on it.....
I would like to buy a bigger brother machine, similar to the Janome6600 but I don't even know if they have something like this.....(I am stuck in mexico and don't have many choises).....
Goos luck with your machine
