I've done this also, but you do need to go to the post office so that they can mark it NON-MACHINEABLE and it's considered parcel post and it costs $.81. I just did this for the block that I sent to skydiver70(she was requesting a blue 12 1/2" unfinished sq. to make into a quilt to pay for her DM's funeral expenses).
