Can you applique After quilting?
I do not have much experience in applique yet, at all.
I would like to add some appliques to a quilt that has already been quilted. Maybe using a hand stitch would make it do-able? If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated! |
You betchya!
Applique is simply attaching a form to a fabric base (in quilting). It will look nice to see the picture on top of the quilting - - added interest. <wave> and, of course you would do it by hand. Just make sure that your attaching stitches don't go all the way through to the back. It may be a quilt police problem ... but, there is no need to do it clear through all the layers <wave.> |
I don't see why not.

I think it looks beautiful sitting on top of the quilting :D:D:D

Sure. I'd use a fusable like steam a seam 2. Cut out your design. Iron them on and sew by hand a blanket stitch around them. It will add to your quilt.

I too am interested in this thread. I have an "hourglass and ninepatch" top that I want to quilt and then add applique flowers and vines around the border.
|
it's not necessary to use steam a seam or any fusible if your turning it under
