Embroidery Question- Please help!!

I am very new to embroidery so this question may seem silly. I had someone else do a banner like embroidery for a lap quilt. She did a fine job, but after ironing, the stablizer has wrinkled, crinckled and has made the wording look funky. I did not cut the stabilizer around each word. I guessing that may be the problem, but hesitate cutting before I know for sure. Please help. This is a lap signature quilt for my mother-in- laws 90th birthday Sat. and I want it to be perfect as possible.

I'll be watching this one. I would imagine it has to do with the type of stablizer that was used; not all are the same.

perhaps the fabric shrank from the steam of the iron?

Do you know what type of stablizer was used? There are a lot out there. Was it washed? Some is made to wash out.
You can cut around the stablizer.

Wet the stablizer. If it dissolves, then that is your solution. If it doesn't, then either cut or tear it away from the embroidery. I would suggest that the next time you either specify what type of stabilizer you want used, or be sure to find out what was used. There should be no indication on the finished product of the stabilizer at all.

I cut it off after I am finnished get as close as you can. Usually I use tear away. That should help to smooth it out again.

I use tear away also. Cut close to design. Then lightly press both sides.

Many people have talked about the stablizer but, fabric needs to be washed and dried to shrink it before using it on this type of medium. Maybe that is the problem. Or if the fabric has a blend in it and too hot of an irn it will shrink from melting the poly in it. Oh the thread is either poly or rayon... both will shrink with a too hot iron.

Thank you all for giving me your advise. I alway prewash my material and use 100% cotton thread. The shop was closed today but will find out tomorrow what kind of stablizer was use. I don't like it that's for sure. I knew I could depend on you all for advise. I'll post a pic of the finished producy.

Possible to do a before and after picture of the embroidery? May be beneficial to others in the future. Thanks!
