Fabric at Wal-Mart $7.46 ?

I just left Wal-Mart and they had some new fabric by Fabric Traditions that was priced for $7.46. This is the first time I've seen it above $6.00.

I must say the selection was very pretty. Unfortunately I can't say it felt any different than their other fabric. They really have some pretty AE Nathan fabric though.

fabric at our WM is $5.98 but it is very poor quality. Looks great, feels terrible. I would never use if for anything but crafts. Way too much work to make a quilt and then use something this bad.

I can't imagine paying that much for WalMart fabric. Occasionally I buy fabric there, but not for quilts. I agree, too much work involved to use cheap fabric. I do use their fabric for children's projects, but not for my projects. If that makes me a snob, then so be it. I want my quilts to last for awhile at least.

I've been checking out the fabric at different Walmarts and I'm seeing the same thing. Very poor quality, so I'm there with you, my time is not worth using inferior fabric.

I was really shocked at the rising prices at Walmart, too. But since Walmart is one of my biggest sources for fabric-I really do use their material to make quilts-it's still better that LQS on my beyond limited budget! I will also agree that sometimes WM's quality is lacking, can't go too cheap, but then I don't buy what I don't feel it right for my purpose. Sometime when reading reactions of others about Walmart I feel out of place. So I just want beginners to know (especially when starting out) it's okay to use Walmart fabrics, it's cheaper when making mistakes while learning. I just think of the origins of the quilt and the materials that were used. I guess to me the finished quilt is perfect because it's made with love, on the sum total of it's parts :)

Before mine stopped carrying fabric, they carried a nice line and a cheaper line. Mine has not started carrying fabric again so I don't know what they have. I made a lot of things from what I bought from then back then that still look great after a lot of use and washing.

I'll have to check out the Walmart that carries fabric.

My Walmart doesn't carry "lines" of fabric, or maybe it's all been picked through. Every once in a while, I'll go look at their fabric but my stores sells the "cardboard" type fabric. It's stiff in a bad way. And like I said, there's no matching fabric, except maybe one other piece.
