I put the two we had in our camper to make the beds softer and get a better nights sleep.

I agree with the feather pillows. My grandparents had feather beds and my Mother and Grandmother made pillows. My daughter still has one that is probably 50+ years. I am violently allergic to feathers so I do not have one.

What ever you do, do NOT try to burn them. It will stink up the whole neighborhood. Not nice. Yes, dad was up to it again. Go buy a lined vest pattern, then trace around it on the bed. Shake some of the feathers into that area, but don't over fill. Double sew where you traced so you can cut off what you won't use. Quilt this area. with about a 4-6 inch grid. Now cut your shell (outer part). Assemble the vest by following the directions on the pattern. It does not matter how hard you try, you will get feathers everywhere. Imagine the people that work in the down rooms that sit there all day filling baffles. I had to fill in once. I came out looking like a poorly plucked chicken. Oh, wear a face mask. Feathers up the nose are not nice either.

Seriously, make feather pillows or "stuffing" for decor pillows

Do you want to sell the feather mattress?

this thread reminds me of the Lucy episode where she decides to re-cover Ethyl's ratty looking furniture, piles up all the feathers on the kitchen table, Fred decides it's hot in the room, and turns on a fan LOL

You all crack me up. My feather story is one to really remember. I had one of those feather beds and some of the quilting had come loose and it no longer useful. I had a hole in the middle ;) I wanted to do something with the feathers since I am a thrifty type. I made some pillows and took the feather bed, my scisors, a few pins, and the new pillow thingys into the shower (dry of course). I shut the shower door and took off all of my clothes and threw them over the door. (I wouldn't want the feathers to stick to my clothes.) LOL.. anyone who knows me would gasp at this as nobody should ever see this sight. I transfered the feathers from the matress topper to the pillows I had made and then pinned them shut. I cleaned up the few leftover feathers from the shower and sewed the pillows shut. I then was able to get dressed again. LOL Lucky I was home alone. Actually this worked out very well because it contained the feathers in the shower area and not all over the house.

Sandwich it and tie it in a quilt? Would that work??
