now an OMOTFWC - (Official member of the Featherweight Club) Went to a Salv Army Women's Auxillary sale today and just before leaving glanced over at table near the check out and there, in a case, was a Featherweight! When checking out a couple of the women didn't know what it was - but two of them did and they had all been wondering if and when it would sell. I didn't tell them they had the price too low (compared to Ebay). Only paid $125 which is a lot but not at much as the ones I see on Ebay and Craig's list. Could hardly wait to get home to check it out. Have not tried it yet - have to just look at it a while first. Did plug in and light came on and ran so just have to now figure out how to thread it etc. (no manual). Also only one bobbin so hoping can order some of those somewhere. Where do you find the serial number to look up the year/model etc?

That's a nice one!
You can download a manual (free) here. http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html |
It looks as if you got one heck of a deal there - congratulations :-)

Congrats! Even if you find that she needs a tune up, you got a great deal! Parts are readily available. Here's a link for the serial number lookup.

mY oh my! Wonderful!

You will find the serial number on the bottom of the machine. By the end plate, it looks like it could be from before 1949.

wow, great deal!! even your cat approves!!

Wow, how lucky you got. Looks like a very nice one. Have fun...

Congrats! Pretty machine!

Excellent deal! Must be pre-1952 to have the scroll face plate. There are dozens of vendors for bobbins and parts. I dunno if they are the cheapest, but www.featherweight221.com has just about everything including a book to teach yourself how to service it. I ordered feet, bobbins, a manual and DVD from them. Fast service, very nice folks. Congrats on your FW!
