I went yesterday. Didn't see much and the store wasn't busy.
But I got a new mat to replace the one I warped- it was the last one. Also got Eleanor Burns flying geese ruler. MSQC just did a new tutorial using them.

I was surprised that I didn't see much else but that's okay. Just wondering what the rest of you thought of the sale.

Have a great day, friends :D
Sue

Am not shopping there due to a fabric stash that is too big. BUT I will tell you will love that ruler. It makes perfect FG

Honeynga 09-03-2011 04:07 AM

I'm going this a.m. (Sat.); then going into Atlanta and will go to Hancocks also....saw they have 50% off sale on quilting fabrics....but don't know what reg price is....

Have a short list of stuff I "need", backing, etc.......will see

Nana2Sew 09-03-2011 04:11 AM

I will be shopping at Joann's next weekend........will miss this sale. Did you buy the white cutting mat? This is on my list and was looking for any comments about it.
I have the flying geese ruler and love it!

Tinabodina 09-03-2011 04:13 AM

I don't think I will be going this weekend, but you never can tell where I will end up. I don't need anything really.

Charleen DiSante 09-03-2011 04:17 AM

I went yesterday, got 'coffee bean' fabric on Red Tag sale at $2. per yard. They were VERY busy at the cutting counter and it was running smoothly. The FQ's and bundles are 50% off and notions wall is too so got a few pencils and a set of beading needles. I made myself not buy more FQ's.

watterstide 09-03-2011 04:19 AM

i did! i got red tag p-leather, almost 12 yards for less than $3 a yard! My daughter who is a third grade teacher, has made up a reading area on the floor. she got 32" pillow forms at IKEA last year..6 of them, really cheap. wanted me to cover them in something that could be wiped clean..

i got the 50% off the red tag and another 20% off total order..we are both well pleased!
looks like i will be sewing them up today!

i didn't buy anything for me..so proud of myself!

No, I replaced my Olfa- the green one. Love that mat and had it for years. My fault that I ruined it :XD:

Charleen, I was so surprised the cutting table didn't have lines a mile long. Not sure why??

I'm not sure if I will be going to Joann's this weekend, only 9 miles away but you never know.

ljfox 09-03-2011 05:33 AM

I am going there in an hour or so. I just made my list!

jacee kay 09-03-2011 05:45 AM

I am going later this am. It's a hour drive so I don't go very often. I have a list of things to get.

Me too, about needing anything or planning on going there but life is sometimes unpredictable and that's why I keep my coupons in my purse at all times.

Love Debbie Mumm & Susan Winget especially when it's on sale for $2.00 a yard!!

Here's a tip for the Red Tag/clearance shoppers...if you go late in the day, check the restock bins at the cutting counter. That's where all the good stuff can be found. It appears that the ladies are so busy, they don't have time to put it back on the clearance racks.

Just-Lee 09-03-2011 06:09 AM

I bought a few red tag clearance w/ the extra 50% off, but didn't like most of the patterns they had out.

marscrafter 09-03-2011 07:12 AM

I went and picked up some fabric I needed for my next quilt, a fat quarter for the weight loss challenge, and oogled all the pretties. LOL Oh, I also picked up metallic thread, which I'm really excited to use. The cutting area was crazy busy at ours too, but it just gave me more time to look at the fabric.

Emma S 09-03-2011 07:13 AM

I found just over forty yards for about $2.00 per yard on the clearance table. Great for backs! It was really funny the quilters were out in force, we all were there when the store opened and were all in one aisle at the clearance section. Quilters know how to shop even when the price is going up. I am really pleased with my finds!

MellieKQuilter 09-03-2011 07:24 AM

I got a few fat quarters for a Secret Pal gift... and some craft gloves with my 40% off coupon.. that was it! Did see a lady with STACKS of fabric tho!

sueisallaboutquilts 09-03-2011 07:39 AM

Glad you're finding things!! We need to boost the economy, right??? hee hee

I forgot to look at patterns but I don't feel like going back :)

Honeynga 09-03-2011 07:41 AM

Stopped at JoAnns in Douglsville GA on my into Atlanta.....they are in the midst of remodeling and most things are topsy turvy..........I'm not good at digging through stuff....spent a whopping $5 and got out of there...might stop by back by tomorrow....depends on what I get today at Hancocks......

Vanuatu Jill 09-03-2011 08:16 AM

I got a big roll of fusible Pellon and some sew-in for purses I plan to make-used my 40% coupon on the pellon-bought WAY too many FQ"S at $.99 each, and some bits and pieces off the notions wall-oh, and another purse pattern (I have several now, and have never made one - yet) and found some stunning teal for backing on my whitework sampler quilt-unfortunately, it wasn't on the clearance table! Not much there and it was really messy-I have a bad arm/shoulder and couldn't manage lifting heavy bolts/rolls of fabrics. I bet all the good stuff was either under them, or in other shopper's baskets!! All in all, it was a fun day-and I was really surprised how fast the cutting table went!! Saw a few ladies with their baskets LOADED - and one had her DH pushing a SECOND cart!! Glad I wasn't behind her at the cutting table!! I also used the 20% off everything coupon so I saved a bundle!

pojo 09-03-2011 08:19 AM

I went today didn't see much.
All I bought was 3 fat quaters and a turn cutting mat.
THey aren't busy like they used to be since we got a Hobby Lobby.

winterpromise31 09-03-2011 08:34 AM

I went shopping there last night! Bought a new package of rotary blades. Some fabric I needed for the quilt top I'm working on. And some Christmas fabric so I can make table runners for Christmas presents this year. Spent $75 and saved over $40! I was happy.

Ardelle Coult 09-03-2011 08:43 AM

I just printed the 20% off "printable" coupon -- it states in the fine print "no photocopies". Going this morning so we'll see.

Printing off the computer is not the same as photocopying-your supose to print it off their website-but not re-produce it by making copies. I used mine yesterday with no problem. I printed another today to see if I can use it an another Joann's today. We'll see.

GagaSmith 09-03-2011 09:40 AM

I got batting w/ my 40% off coupon, two bundles of fat quarters (one is the Christmas fabric Holiday Inspirations which is reg price $9.99 yd) for $5 each, some machine needles 50% off, some regular fat quarters for .99, and clearance fabric (Debbie Mumm) for $2.00 yd. Also some other fabric. I was pleased with my haul.

Kim T 09-03-2011 10:01 AM

Hancocks also has 50% off of all quilting supplies Sunday and Monday. I am going to go get some thread and a 1/4 inch foot.

Vanuatu Jill 09-03-2011 06:35 PM

Ok, I printed another 20% coupon this morning and went to another Joann's and they accepted it!

MommaThomps 09-04-2011 03:55 AM

I'm going to tomorrow when the hubby is home, so that I can go sans children. I need to find some background fabric for one of my quilt alongs and I might pick up the batting for it since it's on sale and there's the extra 10% off coupon as well. We'll see.

Red tag sale quilting fabric, $2 per yard!!! But i was good, i did not buy it ALL.

peaceandjoy 09-04-2011 05:05 AM

I went on my way home Friday night. Bought 8 yds of Warm and White, 40% off batting on the bolt, plus my 20% all purchases coupon. If I had space to store more, I'd have purchased more of it. The LQS where I have some of my LA done does not have batting by the bolt (no space!), so you either bring your own in or have to by the packaged stuff - which is a lot more expensive, especially at their prices.

Normally, I use Warm and Natural, but it really seemed to have a lot of stuff beyond the normal "flecks" in it. Almost like pieces of the stalk, very woody. Has anyone else noticed this?

threadsdmr 09-04-2011 05:15 AM

I went to the one in Columbia yesterday. It was quiet as well. I did get a pair of small pair of singer scissors and a couple of strings of beads.

Latrinka 09-04-2011 05:15 AM

No Joann's close to me, and I ain't gettin out in dis hurricane anyway!

I bought a new Fiskars a few weeks ago and really like it. It's light green on one side and yellow on the other. Both sides have the grid marks. Only downfall is how they numbered it. Along the bottom is correct 1-36 but along the side they went from 24 up to 1 -- opposite of what we need. I'm sure it's a design flaw but I just took a permanent marker and marked my #s along the side from 1-24 (hope this makes sense).

Also no smell.

Didn't see a white one - who makes it?

vickig626 09-04-2011 06:13 AM

I went on Friday but only got what I needed for a special project. I did pick up some needles at 50% so bought 2 packs.

Also bought that special magazine for $2.99 that has those great coupons on the back...well worth the price if you can find it. It sells out fast.

jillybean302 09-04-2011 06:13 AM

I went to the Joann in Boardman, Ohio. I stocked up on sewing machine needles at 50% off, new blades for my Olfa cutter, and 25% off quilting fabrics. By the time I got there yesterday, there was not one red tag fabric that caught my eye. Oh, well. Hubby wants to go eat Chinese in Cranberry Twp in PA, with some friends tonight. Lucky they have a Joann ETC there, too!! I have to take a few minutes to look at reg tag fabrics!!
