Can't think of another name to call it! Can I take my completed 432 blocks, put them in a grocery bag, shake the heck out of it and sit by my sewing machine and pull out block after block, sewing them together and still come out with a decent looking quilt? It is Floating stars with the dark at left bottom of the block and the light at the right top of the block. With the exception of putting two alike, which would mean double-dipping, so to speak, whatever I grab I sew next! I can't design it on the floor because we have a dog. Need I say more? I have no room to hang the felt to do the designing, so I thought I would ask you if any of you have heard of it, have tried it. liked the results or disliked the results.

I am trying to get these all put together and watch the Vikings kick Dallas' behind!!!!! So far the Vikes are ahead 17-3! Yay!

You can lay your blocks out on a bed and then pick them up row by row to sew together.

If this is the pattern, your idea would work beautifully, as the dark and the lights are randomly scattered across the quilt. :D:D:D

I love this type of project. It will work wonderfullly. Actually, if you end up with a few lighter blocks together instead of ll spread equally, it can create the feeling of sun shining through on your quilt. I love the prject idea and the grocery bag!

The 4x4 block has a light triangle on the upper right and the dark triangle on the lower left. It falls into place right. I just didn't want to get myself over-confused by matching up the triangles with the row above or below it. It 24 rows long and 18 blocks across. This is the first time I have done something like this and I just don't know if it is kosher quilting or something a person who isn't totally in the know about quilting would do (like me!). Edie

It's the random bag design. It is designed in part to help anally retentive matchy-matchy people to loosen up....and it is hard to do. The only rule I know is that you get to put back and repick if you pick the identical fabric immediately again.

I'm not sure that it would work for me if EVERYTHING was in one bag. I'd prefer to split the bags by color or value.
Happy scrapping.
