I don't hear a lot mentioned on here about Hancock Fabric. Is it because they aren't in a lot of locations or is because their fabric is sub-standard? Just wanting to know because we have one here and I don't know that much about fabric yet, so don't want to shop there if they aren't too good.

Same here, and it was a pitiful excuse of store before it shut down.

There are no longer any in the Pittsburgh PA area either. Used to travel to Ohio but they closed that store too.

I've always enjoyed Hancocks. Seems like some locations are different than others. Some locations I like more than other locations.

It is like other chain stores, some is good and some not so much  But I have seen the same in some LQS also. Feel it, hold different brands up to the light and look through the single thickness. Can you see a tighter woven cloth? Can you see through it like a double layer of cheesecloth? Look at the printing in it, does it look nice all over? By really checking over different manufacturers fabrics, you will start seeing and feeling the difference. Hand dyes and batiks will have a heavier feel to them due to the way that they are dyed, but you can still look to see what the quality of the fabric looks like  :D:D:D
I shop at all of the chain stores, online shops and LQS, where ever I can find what I want and for the price I am willing to pay :D:D:D

We have a Hancock's here and I prefer it to Joann's actually.

I had one nearby when I lived in WA state. It was an awesome store. I have one near me now in Tx. Lots of selection. Too bad the store is incredibly disorganized. Every time I have been there it looks like a tornado has run through the store.

I haven't been in a while because it is so frustrating.

We have one here and the ladies are wonderfully helpful. I can get good fabric there. Like most places you need to look for it.
