I want to make a bed size Christmas quilt for next year. I have collected a number of Christmas fabrics. Now here is my problem, while I have many blocks I could make most of them use three or more colors. I need one that uses only two colors. I want to use white and a Christmas fabric with many different Christmas fabrics blocks. What block would you recommend for a two color block? I am not a beginner but I do not like Y seams or hexagons. Thank you for your help.

What about a star block.

I made a two color quilt for my dil using a variable star pattern. It would work really well with a single fabric for the centers of the stars and you could use a variety of fabrics for the points and all whites for the back ground. Stars are always good for Christmas.

If your collection of Christmas fabrics has a relatively equal mix of lights and medium/darks, you might want to look at scrappy quilt patterns. "I Can't Believe It's a Beginner" from The Pattern Basket by Margot Languedoc makes up beautifully (and easily) and you could use twenty or more fabrics in it with great results, I'm sure.

I had a lot of reds and someone said all reds work together. So I put it to the test. I made a bargello heart using only red fabric. It worked and turned out beautiful. All the reds blended quite well.
I also did Bonnie Hunters Pineapple Blossom using my Christmas fabric as scrappy. The only thing that was consistent was the white background. Again it worked well. So just go for it. Marge

You're looking at them in too big of pieces and you probably don't have enough of them yet. The rule for reds, greens and blues; 2 clash, 20 go together.
