I believe there is a 'quick' block made by piling the fabric (say four different) making random straight line cuts, then re-arrangeing them by shape in piles, stitching and re-cutting .... Does this sound familiar to anyone? Or is it total gobledegook! I would be most grateful for some help!
Thanks in anticipation.

Sounds like One Block Wonder or Stack and Whack?

Could you be referring to the Stack and Whack method? I've not done it, but it sounds somewhat like what you are describing.

If the cuts are random, I don't think it would be bargello would it. I thought those cuts needed to be precise.

It sounds like something I saw Ricky Timms do.....but for the life of me I don't know what he called it.

He made the cuts and then mixed the fabrics up so he could sew four blocks together.

No , it isn't OBW. I know the one you are talking about , but can't find it right now.Just cut 6 squares of fabric 12", then stack them up evenly and cut through all layers 3 or 4 times , then pick a piece from the bottom and place it on top in it's spot. Sew the top blcok together , replacing a piece from each one.

Maybe this is what you are looking for. Google stack-n-slash and you more than likely will find more.

Stack and Slash is what I have heard it called.

However many fabrics that are in your stack, are the amount of cuts(pieces) you want to end up with. You can cut each stack the same or differently.

I have seen it done with random cuts, or cutting them to form a star shape.

You rotate the pieces in each stack, so you end up with all different fabrics in each block :D:D:D
