I tried free motion quilting all day yesterday and I am in need of a teacher. I want to quilt my own quilts but after yesterday, Id pay $150 in a heart beat to have someone else do it.

I will be moving to Virginia Beach, VA in December. I guess there is no reason for me not to take a class now in Memphis. So Where do I look for classes?

I've taken quilting classes at local quilt shops. Many of them have websites with class schedule. Check the ones in your area and see what they are offering.

check with local quilt shops, joannes, hobby lobbie, what ever is around and any local guilds/sewing groups. also machine dealers at times offer technique classes.

I know our LQS does classes.

I took a class from a LQS (very good and got me going) later took another class at a different LQS and picked up a few more pointers. There are also some good videos on the internet, and many books available.

The main thing is PPP - practice, practice, practice. It will get easier.

You are moving to the area that I grew up it. It is beautiful there!http://www.sarahsthimble.com/ClassSchedSpg2010.html
http://adifferenttouch.com/
http://addictedquilter.com/Classes.html - has a class called How Do I Quilt This? might be interesting

Your Local quilting shop should be of great help there.

I'm going to take one at a place that sells machines.

It is beautiful there. I spent the summer there and had a wonderful time.

Thanks for the links. How do I quilt this...does sound like a fun class.

PPP made me want to take a baseball bat to my machine yesterday. I had to keep reminding myself that it was me...not the machine.

I could probably use a class or two in FMQ but I think the main thing is just to practice, practice, and more practice. I have tried in on small blocks and I have a long, long way to go before I would attempt it on a quilt. I like the puffiness of a quilt so I tend to just do SID.
