Here's how i keep a cup of coffee warm while im busy quilting. My iron doesnt have auto shut off and since i cant always get to have a sip while im busy this works well for me. So when the iron isnt needed it can be put to good use in the meantime. Just thought i post a silly little something to share whith the rest of you. Chris :)

Well, GK, necessity is the mother, or father, of invention!!! :D :D :D
I love it! |
Ha! I like it, I like it!
|

Just watch you don't burn your hand when you reach for your cup! (sorry, my Dad used to be Safety Monitor at work and I always see potential accidents waiting to happen! ) |

Very clever! Plus it keeps the coffee away from the sewing machine! Good idea that!!!
|
Too funny!!!!   Good for you Chris!!! I'll have to try that. Oh, I don't drink coffee! Besides, I have too many cats lying on the table while I'm sewing to keep the iron on! Nothing like the smell of scorched cat hair!
|
Maybe I should try that, not so much to keep it hot but to keep the cats away from my cup, they have a thing for tea, my mom used to have to bring a second cup for the cat so she could have the cup to herself.
|
haha! Knowing me I would totally burn myself if I did that!
|
Good idea; but don't brun yourself. you still need to do your quilts.
|
Gee, I guess with a good steam iron making lattes could be done! :D
|
What an idea  8)
|
Well aren't you the clever one. Please don't burn your hand reaching for the coffee.
|
Back home in Massachusetts, we call that Yankee ingenuity.
|
HEY!! What a great idea. I will
have to try it myself, today!! :D :D :D :D :D |
Cute! Send it to Fons and Porter as a quilting tip!
|
Thank You. We learn something new every day. This is a good one.
|
Good idea!
(I have a set of cups just like yours   ) |
Great I have the very same iron as you have and I'll try this ..Thanks for the tip :D
|
Darn, my iron has an auto shut off. I guess my iron and coffee will both be cold when I want them. :D
|
Very clever Chris! What are you working on now? Look foreward to seeing your creations.

I was trying to figure out how my tea stayed warm the other day. lol
Love your thinking! |
Great Idea!
Just be careful to not hit your knuckles against the iron when you grab your coffee!!!! |

That's a great idea!
Too bad that the only thing allowed in my sewing room is water. |
Love it.

I love it! Chris it's a two-fer! :D |
LOL! I should not have opened this thread while I am trying to wake up. It just tweeked my brain into one of those thought loops. Stop that Khan, it is just too hard to deal with early in the morning ... LOL!
How about that ironing board, is it a square made by you? |
I used to have a coffee cup warmer years ago. I have seen the same type of warmer years later that heats up big glass jar candles. I've seen them at Michaels. They work great too!!
Love your idea!!! Just be careful not to tip over your coffee!! :) |

Chris----very clever. Me, I would spill the coffee or burn my hand. Or--my sis would come along and spill the coffee! |
This is a good tip! I personally get hotter than hell between the iron, sewing machine light and high intensity lamp if I'm quilting at night. But then, being menopausal doesn't help! LOL
|
Is this something the ordinary person can buy? I think I have outgrown my regular ironing board. That one skinny side is madening while trying to press those longer queen seams. Where did you buy yours?
By the way, I use a stanley thermos to keep my coffee warm. I hate running up and down the stairs for a fill up. |
Good idea
|
Aw yes, great idea! I'm pretty klutzy myself and have to be careful leaving the iron sitting anywhere. My cats just love to jump up on the ironing board, it tips it just enough to make the iron fall to the floor and it would dump that coffee out in a heartbeat!
|
Clever idea. But I'd probably spill it. LOL
