Oh my, what silly things people say. Sorry you were hurt by someone's comments.

I consider quilting an art, and there are no rules in art!

I have always thought that it accentuates the fabric without covering it up. I have seen a log cabin stitched in this manner and it was very pretty.

I would have went over the top with wide eye wonder about this information from that person. I would have said Oh all this time I have been doing it all wrong. Tell me more of what you know is the right way. I would have played it for all it's worth. LOL.

I use SID all the time. Forget the "quilt police" what do they Know???
|
I almost FMQ all of my quilts. I like doing it and I like the looks. Daughter almost always does SITD or straight line through the blocks. Different strokes for different folks. No quilt police but, lots of imitators. I make my quilts to suit me. You should do the same.
|
Definitely not a cop out & I hope all of tha responses you've gotten here prove that! I am very proud of the quilts I make from start to finish and I hope you are too!

Did the person who made this comment also say she had to walk uphill (both ways) in the snow just to get to her LQS? Or that in her day, she had to create batting by hand using just the fur shed by the family's cat? I mean, really! Why should she (or anyone else) dictate what counts as real effort? I'm sorry you were made to feel bad. I say quilt the way you want to and enjoy your work.
|
HAve you been talking to the quilt police again????
|
Getting my quilt tops finished, quilted, bound and then used is always the goal for me. There are no rules and that is one of the lovely things about quilting, you can do this however you want. Chin up an carry on.
