After 54 years of life, I am now about to to take up drinking!! This fun and done thing is the cause. Ok maybe I won't take up drinking but i'm at the end of my mind (such as it i) I have watched and read til I'm almost blind and I cannot for the life of me figure this thing out. I have my rows together in rows(kinda looks like maybe I was drinking) But I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the rows together without a major bump at the joins. What am I doing wrong :(

are you putting in sashing?

Happy Tails 04-10-2010 06:01 PM

yes, I pulled the back to the front and stitched on both fronts, does that make sense? It's how the girl did it in the video.

Sounds like your batting is getting in the way?
Did you cut the batting with the smaller size?
Did you trim the batting even with the front block when you got the block done? And left the backing bigger?
I'm sorry to hear you're having problems.....I was thinking about getting the templates and doing this myself....but if it isn't as easy as it looks, I might have to re-think it.

can you please post a picture?

are you having trouble getting the rows together?

Your batting should not extend into the area you are pulling to the front. There will be a certain amount of bulk at the intersections. At least there is on mine.

Iron the seams on one row in one direction and on the next row on the opposite direction. Press well. When you are going to join the rows, they will lock in place and yes, there will be a little bulk (to be expected) but nothing noticeable.

What pattern is it? Seems like the others know but I am not seeing it. (I have heard chocolate works!)

It's not a pattern, but a process. You can find it at Bayside Quilting. It's called Fun and Done. They have a video there showing how it works.
