Basting 3 quilt layers together this a.m...having difficulty with my needle, and suddenly a bubble popped in my brain (figuratively). Tho't "why not?" Has anyone else used the curved needles for 'sandwiching'? And why didn't you tell me about this method? I'm having a pout about being left in the dark!

2 different sizes of needle--aren't they used for upholstery? Well, a quilt upholsters a bed..in a manner of speaking!

I say whatever works...

curved quilting needles.... I use them for basting in the floss when I tye a quilt. I like the large eye on them so I can see to thread.

Me, too. It goes really, really quickly using the curved needle.

I actually thought about this a few days ago while sitting in my quilting room wishing I could sew. I had rotator cuff repair on my left shoulder earlier this month and it is totally immobilized (except for passive exercises) for another couple of weeks. I have a top finished and I think I will try basting it with a curved needle.

Use whatever works, I have not tried this.

I use them all the time to hide thread ends on my long arm.

I used curved needles when I thread basted but have since switched to pin or spray basting.
