Did you all get your VIP card? I live 30 miles from a store, so I'm not a frequent shopper, and maybe a little cynical. But now-I can save 10% (covers the tax) once I activate my card, show proof of membership and PHOTO ID (?) I understand photo id at my Dr's office, but at JoAnn's??????? Anything pricey there I use my coupons for 40-50%.
Maybe its my Saturday morning brain. Also, is anyone a member of QCA or QNN? What do you think of them? Most of it comes thru QNN, the video's, etc. I like Quilt Out Loud. |
I think the card works like the teacher cards. You show your idea the first time and they sign the card or give you a new one. Then you can use the card in addition to your coupons. So, you would get 405 off the item, then 10% off the amount that is left. If items are on sale, you would get an additional 10% off the sale price.
At least that is how the teacher cards work. |
LOL, I didnt know they had one, but I'd like to get 10% off, you can still use the other coupons too, right?

It came in the mail. I suppose its just from using the coupons. I will be traveling to breakfast with my daughters tomorrow 45 miles away, there is a store there. I will use it and see what its all about. I'll be sure to have my photo ID.
|
If you belong to a quilters guild and show your membership card you get 10% off your entire purchase at Joann's even if you use coupons.
|
This is what I found on the Joann website:
http://www.joann.com/joann/common/co...ustservice.jsp;jsessionid=01D7BC2638B851BA738AE366F9A1A514.a4p1? catName=VIPDiscounts |
So if we use our Quilting Board member card we downloaded off of this site, will that count?
|
I think you have to belong to a guild or to a sewing club that has an official card. You just take your membership card to the check out and the clerk/manager will get you a VIP card.
You can get the 10 percent on all items, icluding most sale items, but you can't use it with the 40 percent off coupons, at least not at the store where I shop. Sometimes you will find a clerk who doesn't know split beans from coffee about the VIP card, but hang tough and be patient. He or she needs to learn the business. froggyintexas |
You can tell how computer unknowledgeable I am, never thought to look it up. Thank you all for your comments.
|
I belong to the AQS. I have the VIP discount card. I've never had to show ID or Drivers license. But dif areas do dif things.
|
I wonder how we'd get one for the Quilt For Kids
program Karen |
I have one from Quilter's Club of America. I joined just this year. That reminds me-I'm supposed to go do something to get my new card.
|
I had one and JoAnn's did not accept it as 10% on purchases
Only goods you bought. I'm not working now so I won't be buying another membership. Karen |
What do you mean by 'goods you bought'. Isn't that the same as purchases? I get 10% off anything that I'm not already using a coupon on. Even the things that coupons don't apply on like cricut cartridges.
|
Yes, purchases....JoAnn site says 10% of TOTAL PURCHASES
It includes using your discount coupons also |
They have them for DBA's, also.

OK I'm looking and on the back it says cannot be combined with any other discount coupons. Also says not good on remnants. The website just says some exclusions apply and to read the card for more information.
It says it must be presented with ID and proof of membership but they've never asked for those. |
I have one and it applies to anything that is not purchased with a coupon. I got a vendor's license to do some craft shows and inquired how it would work at JoAnn's. When I purchase fabric or thread (anything that was part of something I'd be selling) I don't pay sales tax. Except, now I have to collect sales tax and send it to the government. I guess I'll never quite get how that's supposed to benefit the small business person! Anyway, when I was inquiring how that worked, the JoAnn's manager gave me the card. It all helps!

Non-Profit Discount Card
Who Qualifies? Any organization with a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit tax status can qualify for Jo-Ann Non-Profit membership status. As a Jo-Ann Non-Profit member, you'll save 10% on every total purchase*, including regular- and sale-priced items at any Jo-Ann store. Of course, there is an * and I don't have the card so I don't know what is on back. Karen |
I don't think the non-profit card is the one most people here have or could get. The VIP card which is given to store owners, guild members, etc is the one. Both have the * and below the first paragraph there is a * and it says Some exclusions apply. See card for details. And on the card it says it can't be used with a coupon.
Become a Jo-Ann VIP & save 10% on every purchase! If you are a reseller, member of a professional sewing or crafting organization, or an interior design professional, you can become a Jo-Ann VIP! As a Jo-Ann VIP, you'll save 10% on every total purchase*, including regular- and sale-priced items, at any Jo-Ann store or at Joann.comŽ. *Some exclusions apply. See card for details. Who Qualifies? Resellers, sewing and crafting guilds, associations, professional organizations and interior design professionals all qualify for Jo-Ann VIP membership status. |
What quilting board member card.
|
I am a member of the American Sewing Guild so I have a 10% off everything discount card. I am also a teacher so I have a 15% off regular priced items. So........I use my 15% card when I am paying full price and my 10% card when I am buying items on sale. However, you can not use a 40% off one item coupon and a discount card on the same item.
|
I also am a member of the ASG - that's where my JoAnn's 10% discount came from. This year, I had to show both my ASG membership card and a picture ID at JoAnn's in order to have it validated. Not sure why so much extra scrutinization - never had to do so in the past.
|
That and a nickel might buy you a cup of coffee ;-)
I kid, My grandpa always said that to me. |
Well, I stopped in today, bought some quarters & phony flowers, handed her this VIP card, and while I'm looking for my QCA membership, she just looked at the card, took 10% off and gave it back. I left!

I have had my VIP card for over 2 years now. Our JoAnn's will not let us use it in additon to coupons - only on regularor sale priced merchandise. I used mine a week ago - not the first time - and they requested my QCA card as well as photo ID. It used to come from QCA when renewing membership....now I have to order from JoAnn's. Will see how that goes.

At least that is how the teacher cards work. the best deal is to take advantage of the 50% off store sales and then get the VIP off on top of that. Be sure to check the expiration date...they are renewable yearly. |
The photo ID is only needed when signing up for the card.
Very easy to use, just show it at the register and they scan it and you get your 10% off on any purchases not using coupons. |

You can get one, I believe, for being "in the fabric business". I know around here (Buffalo NY) you can get one if you're a teacher; I think you can get one if you can prove that you're a business. I don't know if just having a tax number will suffice, or if you need your federal EIN (employer identification number). |
All I needed was proof of belonging to a guild and a photo ID....
|
I received one from QCA. I'm a member of that club and just love the perks that come with it. The best perk is a free subscription to Quick Quilts.
|
I used the link posted and applied for a card so I didn't have to show anything.I let ya'll know if it shows up in the mail like they say it will.YIPPIE!
|
There is a Quilting Board memeber card?
|
I got mine through QCA - but I will not be able to rejoin in August (money too tight), but I guess I can go to Joann's website and see about getting my new card. - I have not been able to use the VIP card along with the other coupons.
I liked some of the perks with QCA, but to tell y'all the truth I have learned more on this board than I have learned in 2 years of QCA. I do not go to the QCA, QnnTV or Fon's & Porter's website very much at all, actually I haven't been on those websites for months. |
