Janome Horizon 7700
I'm hoping someone on this wonderful board can help me. I recently purchased a Janome Horizon 7700 and I love it. The only thing I'm having a problem with is getting a nice smooth satin stitch to go around applique pieces. I talked to the dealer and all she said was I had to "fiddle with it". Has anyone with a Horizon found out how to do a nice satin stitch and would you be willing to share your secret? Hope everyone on this board has a nice Holiday season!!

I don't have this machine. Have you tried adjusting the top tension? Could be it is too tight. Someone with this machine will come along with help or suggestions .

i just purchased the macine. i have only done straight stitiches on it.
next week i get to go for my afternoon they are going to teach me how to work the machine. it sure is pretty. |
"Fiddle with it"? What kind of an answer is that? Is this what they teach at the Janome Training the dealers have to go through? I don't care how much the machine cost -whether it was 100.00 or 10,000.00 dollars - "Fiddle with it" is NOT an acceptable response to a customer concern.

Any satin stitching usually means you need to lower your top tension. Try that. You may also need a stabilizer underneath your project. A tear away would work best.

Funny "in reference to how they are training their dealers" comment--when I picked up my Babylock at my dealer after a cleaning and repair, I asked if I could use the 1/4 inch foot from my Janome on my Babylock (I had the foot with me and showed it to her). Her answer--if you can get it to work, it should work. What a rediculous answer!!! So, I asked her if there was an equivalent foot from Babylock other than the foot included with the machine as I don't find that one to work at all. She went and looked in the store for well over 5 minutes and then came back and said "no".

i did a small test before i got it---just stabaliser--tear away worked a treat and i slowed it down a bit---i am haveing problems with crepe backed satin puckering my dealer is quite happy for me to take a sample to sort out the problem

I purchased the Horizon 7700 in November. I was trying to get the satin stitch to match a project that I had started on another machine. Never could get a good stitch. I will finish that project on my other machine.
