Bev, If you google Stack&Whack, you will find a bunch of sites with photos. It is a fun quilt to do. You need to find repeats in the pattern on the fabric. Stack 6 or 8 of the exact same repeats, then "whack" them into diamonds, or triangles etc. When sewn together, it is much like a kalidascope. Just one fabric, but every block is different, and a surprise! I have Bethany Reynolds book, Magic Stack & Whack, but I am sure there are instructions on the internet. Bethany has a couple other books also. Fun quilt to make. Hope I haven't confussed you completely. I'm sure someone else will show up with a much better explaination!

This version is easier than the above method :D I have done this with triangles and LOVE my quilt.....Attached are two pictures of the pattern....using hot air balloons in the repeat. There is a wonderful tutorial for the 4 patch posie ( she calls it 4patch stacker) at quiltbea.blogspot.com. Very detailed and pictures for each step of the way. This a great quilt to learn stack and whack. Doesn't required but 4 repeats of the fabric. One thing I love is that if you don't like the way the posie looks, turn it a different way three more times. You will have a ball seeing how many designs it comes up with. HAVE FUN and I know you will be hooked after one block.

I laid four identical repeats on top of one another .....you want to pin this so they match reallly good...this is the only hard part...that takes some time.....I cut them into 4" strips .....then into 4" blocks and each stack of four made a 4 patch block....you can turn them any way as long as the same centers are matching....hope this helps....I found this to be lots of fun and very fast and a no brainer.....enjoy Oh here are the ones I've done
