You will be able to prove him wrong very quickly! LOL :D
We have some WONDERFUL quilters on here that are men. I'm sure they will be commenting as soon as they see your post! |
My DH knits, does cross-stitch and leadlighting. He would quilt as well but my sewing room is too small for both of us to share.
He is also very handy with a circular saw and other "manly" things. Get your hubby to check out some of the intricate work the guys on this board do. He's bound to be impressed. |

My dad worked with wood for years. I have been quilting for years and my mother took it up about 5 years ago and is a hand quilter. My dad (with no sewing experience) decided he wanted a longarm. He has learned to sew and is good with his quilting. He has a great eye for color and design.
Here he is with one of his most challenging quilts. |
And then there is that guy that did the last supper. Show him that, he will be impressed. I can't think of his name right now.

My DH has been quilting right along side me from the start. He cuts and sews, I design and hand quilt. A perfection partnership, couldn't do it without him!

don't forget in the past most, if not all, tailers were men. I think men have great eye for precision and detail. The quilts on here made by men are just beautiful. Good luck helping him get started.

Here in Delaware there was a gentleman quilter who also designed quilts. He started his career in quilting because he wanted to quit smoking. He was also a member of a local biker group. You can do a google search fro him under his quilter name name, Biker Dude or his real name of Butch Meyers. He also had a job at the LQS.

through out history MEN HAVE RULED THE TEXTILE WORLD...women are new |
My Aunt taught me how to tailor garments but it was my Uncle, who installed elevators for a living and had hands like hams, who taught me how to embroider as he was taught by my Grandma.
