Microwave bowl holders....

I have been making the bowl potholders and they are fabulous!!!! But I am wondering if anyone has found a better or quicker way to make these. I do a couple of craft sales and you know they are not money making situations but I have LOTS of fabric to use up. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I had my first one burn yesterday. I was melting chocolate for one minute! I use them all the time- all cotton too!

Your thread needs to be 100% cotton, also.

I would like to make some for Christmas presents. The fabrics I like have gold in them -- looks like gold paint. Can that fabric be used in microwave?

I made a lot for Christmas gifts last year. My family has asked for more. So far none has burned using cotton flannel as batting, cotton thread and cotton fabric. Do not use batting that has scrim which will catch on fire. I bought the batting made for microwaves this year to be extra sure. I have several sets to make for friends. By the way layer cakes are perfect for these. You can get 20 - 22 from one package.
