DITTO FOR ME!!

Purple goes with everything :-) Yellow is another good colour that goes well with others except for pink.

Because of the way I buy fabric, in small pieces, usually fat quarters, I tend to make quilts using many colours, often grouped in families, ie a blue,yellow and purple quilt may have 15 different fabrics of each colourway. That way a particular fabric that maybe doesn't quite work really doesn't show up among the rest.

Or might just use values, then I can forget about the colour all together, except for sometimes using a focus fabric to pull it all together.Best thing is just to start experimenting, start playing with your fabrics and enjoy it :) If you come up with a combination that doesn't work for you, don't worry, it is all part of the experiance. Main thing is to have fun :)
