I am making this log cabin for my DD's 30th birthday. Once I lined up the blocks, I noticed something is not right. I don't like that 2 sides have the dark brown (looks black) on the outside and 2 sides have the cream. Am I supposed to put a border around the whole quilt with a completely different fabric? or put another row of dark brown around the cream and then a border? maybe rearrange the blocks? H-E-L-P ...

I would put a border around the whole thing

I would put a dark brown border on the 2 sides that have only the white then border the whole quilt with another fabric. Looking good!!

Put the dark brown sashing around the 2 cream colored edges and then border the entire quilt. Possibly a thin cream border and then a dark brown border. It's very classic and lovely!

What if you change the sashing to a different color besides black. I think the black make the second brown stand out to much. It is just a thought, not a recommendation.

Do a search on here for log cabin quilts and consider another setting for your blocks. You can find a way to separate those dark browns and come up with an entirely different look.

I agree with those who have said to add the dark brown to the remaining two sides and then add another border. In fact, I'd like two borders - the first would be the cream colored fabric in about the same width as the dark brown, and the outer border would be the brown paisley (I think it's paisley) fabric. I'd then bind it in the dark brown.
