For color choice you probably couldn't go wrong with purples, as most little girls just love it. (And many of us seem to never get over that love!)

I think a Twister done in girl (pinks, purple, sparkly) fabrics would be quick and pretty. There are other great patterns but I wouldn't want to spend tons of time on an 8 year olds quilt. You want it to be well used and loved not put away. Besides, Twisters are FUN to do! Other fun children's patterns are I spy and Candy jar for girls.

Joannes has a great fabric I used for my grandaughters quilt..It has multi colored butterflies on a soft lavender background and the fabric sparkles!! They also had coordinating sparkled solids to go with it..She LOVED her quilt..I kept it simple with a 9 patch of sparkled pink and purple(9 1/2" total done) ternated with 9 1/2 squares of the butterfly fabric. I wish the picture I took was better, but this is all I have of the pieced top before quilting

Sounds like she's a princess...flowers and a princess crown. That type of fab is available everywhere.

I like the daisy pattern, what a great idea! It's not childish, remember many 9 yr olds are very grown up-or at least they think they are! I would stay away from anything to little girl.

I can't find the Crazy Daisy pattern, could someone post a link?

I think the Happy Daisies pattern would be perfect for your husbands GD. Here are a couple of links posted by KathyAire http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...es-t58236.html and http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...es-t58294.html Hope this helps.
