Bought a new nifty log cabin ruler. Made a quilt using my scraps. Now how do I quilt it? The logs are only 1 inch wide, so SID would be quite a job. I do not have a long are and will be FMQ on my Janome 7700. This is a charity quilt so it doesn't have to be fancy, but I want it to look nice. Thanks for any ideas.

Love the quilt. Tell us about the "nifty log cabin ruler." As for quilting, I'd probably do an all-over design.

I would quilt down/vertical the "outside" of each block and then quilt across. Your quilting with be like blocks and should be quilted close enough. If you feel it needs more quilting I would make a little x or something in the center of each center block.

If SID is out and you want to keep it simple...then i'd say diagonal straight lines - evenly spaced - with one of the lines going through the center of the block...spacing between lines would depend on what batting you used ... but i think it would look very nice. Good luck -- let us know what you decide -- And lucky charity - they're getting a very pretty quilt whatever you decide !!

When in doubt ... you can just to a meander stitch! Beautiful quilt to donate.

I would quilt in the light areas like feathers maybe you could do some std around the blocks where they join together across and down.

This is the ruler I used. Your strips need to be at least 1 1/2 inches wide, you sew then on and then trim. Everything stays square.

I had to look twice, i made with the same colors with the same size rails for dh. His is 100 x 100
with prairie points all around. I hand quilted mine down the ctr of each rail in each block. ( kinda like a squared off snail).
id love to see the finished peoduct

Love your quilt. suggestion for quilting--maybe cable/rope type quilting along the diagonal lines of the quilt

Beautiful log cabin, looks perfect. I almost always just FMQ a large stipple, I love the looks and I love doing it. I only have two straight stitch only quilts and use one of them.
