It occurred to me...

... as I stood at the board pressing 140 squares for a pinwheel quilt: I have always hated ironing, and hated math. So why do I love quilting?

We can all come to love anything ... if we see the rewards at the end of the work!
Ironing clothes ... ick! Pressing quilt squares is instant gratification in seeing the pieces sitting perfect. And a step to an end product we treasure! |
You love quilting because you have a natural creative talent that you can't ignore, and it outweighs your hatred of ironing and math! Making quilts is a creative thing and satisfies your natural instincts to create, in spite of that gosh awful math and ironing! :o

I, like you hate ironing and math but love quilting. I think it is because for me it is a release and artistic outlet. I'm not overly artistic but can this and appreciate how pretty a quilt top can look when all those little pieces of fabric are joined together. The math an the ironing just make it look right.

I feel the same way.

What ever Piepatch said, I second that. My quest to create overwhelms my dreaded, spitting iron. Math I don't mind so much.
|
What is a little ironing when you can turn cut up pieces of fabric into something so beautiful.
|
You like to quilt because you like to make things that are beautiful and useful. (At least that's why I quilt).
|
Its a puzzle but, I love making quilts also. I guess I really don't think about anything being a negative about quilting. I hate to sew on a button.

there are parts of quilting that i don't like. but i love a quilt when it's done :)
