paint in sewing room
I am getting a new ceiling in my sewing/quilting room. While most of the stuff is out of the room, my husband and son-in-law are going to paint the walls and put new floor down. What is a good color for walls? I am thinking just off white.

Yellow is a good color for your sewing room, it's a good color for energy and creativity.

What colour makes you happy!
Go with your favourite colour ... so you'll want to be there. |
Mine is white with lots of red pieces. I like it because my fabrics stand out and my eyes aren't drawn to the walls. I added a huge red and white french message board in front of my favorite machine where I post my latest ideas and artwork from the kiddos. Other than that, I'm surrounded by fabric. Life is good!
If not a white or off white, maybe your favorite color...or you could always bring in favorite colors with accessories. =) |
Mine is a soft yellow. It gets quite a lot of sun and also has a large window! Just go with a colour YOU are happy working in!!

Mine is a sand color with lighter sand color trim. The ceiling is a shade lighter then the trim work. I took three fabric swatches to the paint store and they mixed the paint to match.
Funny thing: DH bought paint for our bedroom, suppose to be light tan, it was an ivory color. So I thought mixing some brown with the ivory would darken it. The paint turned to a light lilac blue gray. DH used it anyway as a base coat so not to waste it and it is the best color I could have chosen. Everyone who sees the bedroom color asks me what color are my walls and where did I buy it. |
Mine is soft yellow with white trim and white valences over the windows. Always cheers me up.

It was such a pretty color that people would stop and ask what color it was and where he bought it. He had to have the paint company he dealt most with actually make up the color for them when they requested it. As for the color of the sewing room: Would not the white be the best color? The wall color might bounce to your fabrics and show them differently. |

yes my sewing room is yellow :) |
I would go with a soft white. There can be a huge difference in effect depending on what white you choose. I would stay away from gray whites (cold) and go with a warmer white (I like the ones with a slight pink cast -- gives a warm effect without anyone realizing there is pink in it.
