PFAFF Quilt Expression 2044 is AWFUL

1 Attachment(s)
Hey everybody,

i write here on behalf of my mom, she doesn't speak english so i write this for her.
Basically what happened is she bought a new Quilt Expression 2044 a few years back and ever since
this thing is just acting up and making problems , i think we had sent this thing back to get it repaired 4 times now. So there's basically not one month passing without her complaining about this thing..

Today i came home and she told me her sewing machine broke yet again, i got it standing next to me and the display is just completely acting weird, its showing every possible symbol all at once, cant change any settings anymore because of that, neither can you read anything off that screen.

So yet again its probably the electronics/software and I'm fed up with this thing, how can this "premium" high end product be so faulty and inferior!

You guys don't know any solutions by chance do you?

The most aggravating thing is that PFAFF doesn't even have a direct customer support where i can call these guys or write them an email, its just "go to your local sewing shop and ask for help"

Unfortunately it sounds as if your Mother's Pfaff is a lemon and perhaps the mother board is bad. I believe there have been several thread on the QB about this model. Use the search button at the top.

I certainly feel your pain, I have a Quilt Sew Clever Husquvarna that I have had for two years and I have nothing but trouble with it and the help is not good either...... The have had my computer board for two plus months now this is ridiculous. I think it on the slow boat to china....REALLY I am getting upset....!\

Pfaff does have a Facebook page which I don't think you'd need to be a member of Facebook to view. Maybe there's something there for you. Also, I'm guessing you have tried the toll free number and Email Address from their website?

If your mother bought her machine through a dealer take it in and have them look at it. If that isn't the route you want to take, then take your mother shopping for a new machine. After you are finished machine shopping take her out to lunch.

So sorry to hear that you got a lemon. I bought mine 11years ago and love it. It is the only machine I have ever owned that does what it is supposed to do. Did you get yours from a dealer?

Will it stitch even if the panel isn't working?
If it will, then it could be a power to the board issue rather than the board itself.
If it won't, then it likely is the board.
The old Pfaffs had batteries you had to change yearly. If the batteries died - the display wouldn't turn on or act weird, but the machine would stitch. Replace the batteries, and the machine did fine. Just straight sewing didn't depend on memory.
The new machines don't use batteries to store memories - but no power or low power can still be an issue.
Have you tried plugging it in elsewhere? House wiring has been known to go flaky. I had a bad outlet.

Calm down, plug the machine into a known "good" outlet, sit there and try to sew. If it stitches, make a note, if it makes a noise when you turn it on make a note. If any physical button works, make a note. Is the power cord fitting snugly into the connection on the machine, make a note. Anything strange, make a note. Power cord in good condition, make a note. Is it in a hot or cold area, make a note.

Then write all your notes with everything you have tried, and see what a dealer says, or Pfaff says if the FB page has any info. This will help prevent the common "user" error if you have it documented. Hopefully, someone will look at the bigger issue instead of running through the common errors again.

No satisfaction - like the other poster said, take mom shopping for a new machine. You've done everything possible.

I had similar problems with a 2144 with no communication with the computer as the input system was so slow and outdated. I had no satisfaction with customer service. I don't own any Pfaff products any more - that solved it.

I am so sorry your Mom got a hold of a lemon. I don't own any Pfaff machines.

I had trouble with my Bernina 820. Twice it had to go up to Chicago for repair. After the second time I was fed up with it and traded it for a 550 which I dearly love.
