I just did two of these pillowcases from the tutorial with my grandkids, ages 2 and 4. I had the tube ready when they came to visit...quite a mystery about what we were making. They sat on my lap to help me sew the seams, and loved pulling the fabric out of the tube to see what it was. Then we did the side seams. They had a finished project to take home that they can use. Great fun!

the lady gave measurements of 27inches, 9 inches and 2 inches... but .... just realised she had a measurement she cut to at the beginning so that must be the other measurement I need... depth.... just made a black, white and red quilt so will make two pillow slips to match... just what I needed was this advice.... wonderful...

So I was out looking for a tutorial on HOW to machine a pillowcase and found this tutorial from the Missouri Star Quilt Company on Youtube....and all I can say is.......IT'S GENUS....COMPLETELY GENUS! :) I was kind intimidated because I have only ever made quilt tops, no other sewing under my belt, and the thought of hems and things scare me. This COMPLETELY my seed. You only have to sew along 3 lines and you get a gorgeous pillowcase!!! I know I know....you are thinking I'm posting too many videos as of late. Sorry about that, but I thought this is a great watch for people who wanted to make a pillowcase, but thought it would be difficult to attempt. http://www.youtube.com/missouriquilt...51/MrYWCma9wgM ~Michael |
Thanks for the wonderful tips. I am going through your previous topics to see what other surprises you have found and tried to help me.

I shared your youtube w/my twin sister. She was sooooo excited and has already made 4 fun pillowcases! Thx

Have made another two pillow cases and DH suggested that since they might be used to carry personal belongings in, why not put some sort of drawer string through the casing at the opening. I did that and it looks like it will work and make for more use of the pillow slip.
