I tried these before moving onto spray basting. I had to reposition the pins occasionally but definitely easier than using safety pins. Have you tried buying the spray basting in the larger sizes? Someone on the board said they had found it by the case. Maybe our LQS will start carrying the more economical larger sizes.

Leah Day uses them for her machine quilting at her site. I have switched to Hobbs 80/20 fusible batt and don't pin bast anymore. I also bought a can of the 505 spray bast that I will try soon. Basting methods are as varied as quilting methods and you will get lots of different opinions.

I thoguht they were a little pricey....so I made my own from a simple foam 'doorhanger' from walmart in the childrens chraft department and cut into squares..........have you tried using elmers glue....really really works well

I have these and love them. Easier than safety pins and not as messing as spray basting.

Someone on the board went to the Dollar store and bought erasers and cut them into pieces and it works just fantastic for them. I'm still of the old school that I use the bent safety pins for basting. Maybe I will move out of the stone age. . .. :p

You can also buy huge tubs of foam earplugs in many stores including Wal-mart that work pretty well as cheap Pinmoors.

I tried the erasers, cute as they were, they just didn't work as great as the safety pins. I tried basting spray but too messy so I guess I will stick to the safety pins. I tried ear plugs also. sticky to the safety pins, they work.

I use a Pinmore every time I use a straight pin for any pinning. I have about 200 of them. I thought the make-do foam, erasers, earplugs worked just fine until I tried the Pinmores. I can baste a large size quilt in no time at all. The Pinmore stays on the pin until I take it off. The website has a sale on them every so often.
