I am going to go buy a pounce pad tomorrow. I heard the pounce chalk, or what ever you put in it comes in white and blue. My question is does the blue wash out. I am stenciling alot of white and light colored blocks. The marking pencils I am using just doesn't show up so I thought I would try this option. thanks for any input.

I have thought of buying these too. Will see what others say about it.

several have offered to sell theirs as they no longer use it. U might post an ad on the classified section and get a good deal on one.
I had looked into getting one but was kinda talked out of it as it did not seem to fit my needs.

I'm going to watch this post because I am interested in the pounce pad too.

I took a class on FMQ recently and there was quite a discussion about this and a lot of the gals had already had experience with the white and colored chalks.

First off, the new white chalk is an iron off chalk. It will iron off with a dry or steam iron. I played with it and it did disappear, sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly, but it always disappeared.

Now, be sure you get the new chalk. They are still selling the old chalk, it does not say iron off on the package.

Several of the ladies had tried the colored chalk and they all complained that it did not come off easily like the white chalk did. It's cranky and no one recommended it. The general opinion was that something in the coloring process gave it an "iffy" property.

I found that the blue pounce powder does not come off easily, sometimes not at all. I have used the white that comes off with a spritz of water and a bit of a wipe...no problems there. When all of my "old" powder is gone, I will switch to the iron off powder, especially for customer's quilts since I really don't want them to bleed and ruin their quilt on my quilting frame!!!

the company has not yet developed an iron off colored chalk so bet not to try.
Have you tried the Multi Pastel Chalk pencils. They will mark on white and light colored fabrics and will erase and wash out Alto the new ceramic pencil is also good. There is another that has several colored leads like chalk made by Bohim and is available in JoAnns and other stores. Supposed to erase and wash out.
The regular pounce white chalk will come off as you work with it. I have seen it used and the demo showed spraying it with hair spray to keep it on while you worked.
The pounce is rather expensive so suggest you try it first if possible before buying it. Or get a good recommendation. I use the Multi Pastel in white and light grey only.
Remember most of the chalk will come off in the work if machine quilting as the rubbing will take it off.

I have one with white chalk. I can not use it, it makes so much dust that I start choking. And to top it off, I couldn't see the stencil lines when I went to quilt it. Way too frustrating for me, I'll keep using my HB #2 lead pencils, they never give me grief.
