I always zigzag my fabrics before washing them to get the sizing out. I just don't want to lose a penny of fabric. I'm real cheap and stingy with my fabrics,

mine gets in a mess too. i don't think there is any way to keep that from happening. i just cut it off before putting it in dryer, then have to trim it again after drying in order to get nice straight edges.

Sharon, that's a great tip, I'll definitely do that from now on. thanks.

A friend of mine works for a big dept store, and she told me that since a lot of the clothing (and some fabrics too) come from other countries we need to wash everything before using, wearing and even handling. What we have banished as harmful chemicals, other countries may still be using, as well as in some cases pesticides if they are being shipped from other countries...

I am going to buy a pinking rotary blade and give my fabric edges a quick trim and see if the fraying is stopped or minimized.
