A quilting bucket list?

What is the quilt(s) that you want to do/finish before you die? Mine is a queen or king-size Broken Star quilt. For those who don't know what this pattern looks like, here is an example - http://www.amishcountrylanes.com/Pages/hs92.shtml

So, what quilt is on your bucket list?

Jackie Spencer 01-03-2013 06:22 PM

Snake River, my friend made one and it is beautiful!!

Quiltaddiction 01-03-2013 06:22 PM

Ohhh it's gorgeous! I am stock piling orange fabric for my dream quilt haven't decided on a pattern yet I'll know it when I see it.

flutefish 01-03-2013 06:49 PM

A quilt for me to use as a bedspread, so something queen or king-sized. The idea mulling around in my brain is something involving a large mariner's compass, but it's far from designed.

I do also want to make a hexie quilt--I might be away from my machine for a while this coming summer, so that might be a good time to work on a hand-sewn project.

mighty 01-03-2013 06:50 PM

Had not thought of that, boy the broken star is a beauty!!!!

jaspersu 01-03-2013 07:39 PM

I want to do a bed sized double wedding ring. My mom had one that was made by a grandmother and it got used and loved to shreds during my childhood. I remember that quilt as the inspiration for my interest in quilting.

Grandma Bonnie 01-03-2013 07:53 PM

That Broken Star Quilt is gorgeous! I don't blame you for wanting to make it!

bcross 01-03-2013 08:21 PM

I want to do both the Double Wedding Ring and the Snake River Log Cabin in queen size. However, I've got several to do before I think I will be experienced enough to tackle them.

4EVERquilt 01-03-2013 08:30 PM

I have too many on my mind that I want to make before I kick the bucket!! LOL!!

alikat110 01-03-2013 08:53 PM

Storm at sea!!!!

BevF 01-03-2013 08:54 PM

Judy Neimeyer bali wedding ring star, Starburst, and Diamond wedding ring, amongst others. (Unlike 4EVERquilt...they're not on my mind, they're in the sewingroom cupboards.)

francie yuhas 01-03-2013 10:23 PM

I'm working on hand appliqué and the hand echo quilting a queen- sized red on white Hawaaian quilt. So far,I' ve spent 2years on it,just sewing when I have a stretch of time.

stillclock 01-03-2013 11:12 PM

storm at sea, just right in blues and greys to give an almost nausea inducing sense of motion.

mariners compass, with perfect points.

and a tree of life/medallion quilt using the most gorgeous, unbelievably sumptuous william morris fabrics :)

Moonglow 01-03-2013 11:17 PM

Top of the list would be a OBW but there are many others. Must finish UFOs first.

ShabbyTabby 01-03-2013 11:44 PM

#1Grandmother's Fan, all in blues and white. #2. Sampler in black and pinks and finally #3. Crazy Quilt.

DOTTYMO 01-04-2013 12:04 AM

Oh die, I'm going to quilters heaven. Full of fabric you never dreamed off. I will never finish my bucket list so glad I'm going there.

mtngrl 01-04-2013 02:03 AM

I'd have to live to be 300 yrs old to finish my bucket list. I keep seeing quilts I want to hand applique. I've been working on my current one for over a year. Then there are the paper pieced ones, and the whole cloth, and the intricate pieced ones and the hexies, and the machine appliqued, and the art quilts....so many quilts, so little time, sigh :)

NanaCindyLou 01-04-2013 03:30 AM

on my 2013 bucket list: make 1rst quilt, starting with throw/lap size. I am intriqued with crazy quilts, so that's on my someday bucket list...

rush88888 01-04-2013 04:21 AM

i want to make some miniature quilts. i am getting ready to make a drunkard's path one. i just have to get all of my supplies in one place, make a template and off i go. wish me luck!

nygal 01-04-2013 05:43 AM

A New York Beauty is top of my list.

brenwalt 01-05-2013 03:52 AM

I've made three "bedspread" size Double Wedding Ring quilts. Just get one family member taken care of and then another family member guilts me into making them one also.....I know there are patterns out there other than the DWR but can't seem to convince my family of that!! I've got that particular pattern "down to a science." !!

judi wess 01-05-2013 03:57 AM

Am starting one that has been on my list for years, it is called Jacobs fan.

ajw 01-05-2013 05:15 AM

I'd love to do a scrappy DWR, and then someday...someday a Dear Jane!!

KyKaren1949 01-05-2013 05:26 AM

I have way too many on my bucket list. At 63, I need to make haste to even get a fraction of them made. I got a late start at this quilting stuff four years ago, so I have miles to go before I quit!! :)

I agree on the miniature part. I was given a William Morris mini charm pack with an order from some company - don't remember which one - and I'm having a lot of fun putting it together. I'm tired of doing great big quilts and wrestling them through my machine and as soon as I have my 6 or 7 UFOs finished I'm going to do only miniature quilts/wall hangings. It will be cheaper, easier to quilt, and - I hope - more fun.

lillybeck 01-05-2013 05:34 AM

My list is so long that I cannot put it all here.

QandE2010 01-05-2013 05:59 AM

A lone star quilt; a state's quilt with state outlines, capitals, flowers & birds; A daisy dance design quilt; and several that I designed myself to make for various kids & grandkids.

kyquiltlover1942 01-05-2013 07:09 AM

I have so many I want to make, that I applied to God for an extension.

gabeway 01-05-2013 07:29 AM

Texas lone star.

judi43 01-05-2013 07:31 AM

I have three UFO's that are going to be finished before I start anything new. I also want to do one Christmas Present a month (small items like table center) so I'm not rushed like last year. All this should keep me busy.

EmiliasNana 01-05-2013 08:17 AM

My closet is FULL of things on my bucket list LOL

IBQUILTIN 01-05-2013 08:26 AM

My bucket list has gotten so long, I have them on a legal pad, and check them off as I go. Believe me there are a lot more on the list than there are check marks. My next is my personal challenge appliqued and embelished Native American in full war bonnet.

Treasureit 01-05-2013 08:33 AM

I have several patterns I want to complete...working on Grannies Garden by hand and Hawaiian applique...also by hand....these I hope to finish in my life time.

I also want to make a braided quilt, vintage hankie quilt, lattice (Garden Twist) that I am gathering fabric for at the moment. There are more in my brain...but they aren't coming to the frontal lobe at the moment!

Grace MooreLinker 01-05-2013 09:29 AM

what a beauty

sewnut 01-05-2013 09:56 AM

The mariners compass that I got from somewhere that looks like the one on aqs company logo

MargeD 01-05-2013 10:37 AM

First I have a black/white quilt for our family reunion in July, my family sends fabric and I make the quilt. This year my niece said she would machine quilt it on her long arm if I get it to her early, nice. I have to make a twin size quilt for my DGD, then my DDIL wants me to make a lavender quilt for their bed, queen size. For me, I have batiks that I searched for and gathered so I can make a Boston Commons quilt I saw done in batiks on the cover of a quilting magazine years ago - it takes time to gather your fabrics you know - the quilt was done by Helen Weineman (sp) from Heartbeat Quilts and it's absolutely gorgeous. On one trip to the White Mountains, my husband gave me 10 minutes to race through Keepsake Quilting to get the background fabric,I can move fast whenI want to and I knew what I wanted, might have preferred a slightly lighter blue batik, but that's OK. Hopefully I can get started on it in the next couple of years. Wish me luck.

mommafank 01-05-2013 11:40 AM

Agree with 4EVERquilt-----but I want to make one for each grandchild---quilting one and top done on another, finish an Endless Chain I have started, another crazy quilt, a black and white quilt and an autumn colored quilt and maybe another I Spy and perhaps a Folk Art Quilt. Since I am a hand quilter-----that may be all I can handle unless I live to be 110.

Cybrarian 01-05-2013 12:03 PM

Hmmm-well I advanced from a bucket list, to a wheelbarrow list, to dump size trailer list, then a larger enclosed trailer list. I think I'm up to an earthmover dumptruck sized list..... by my calculations since I'm 60 I need to live to at least 234 and be able to quilt the entire time to finish my list or be able to take it with me. Any chance of that God?......

bookwormsub 01-05-2013 02:13 PM

Yes, I also want to do a whole cloth quilt. All those other ideas are great too! Thanks for all the comments.
