For a quilt you sew the arcs down and leave out the extra petals and it gives a nice design on the front and back of the quilt if you use 2 different colours on both sides of the circles. Someone has a book out or pattern but I can't remember who.

The circles are then sewn into rows to make a completed quilt or table runner. I used this method and added extra petals for my Christmas table runners last year. I will try and post a pic.
