Santa's quilting gift list...

So I asked santa for a Mega Hoop for my bernina for christmas and a bias binding speciality foot.
It got me to wondering what you girls have asked for relating to your quilting. ???

fayzer 12-03-2012 05:56 PM

I asked for specialty threads and sewing tools. No one wants to buy those items for me. They all asked for other sugestions. It is sad when no one listens when you tell them what you really want. Guess I'll be my own Santa Claus.

hopetoquilt 12-03-2012 05:56 PM

My DH and I are not exchanging gifts; however, I put the accuquilt cutting machine and some dies on my amazon wish list just in case he changes his mind... LOL. otherwise, I will eventually buy them for myself when I see a major sale.

Up North 12-03-2012 06:04 PM

My family would not buy me quilting gifts either I just ask for bubble bath! LOL

auntpiggylpn 12-03-2012 06:11 PM

The only quilty gift I have asked for is a Prairie Pointer and a gift certificate to my favorite LQS. My family doesn't have any problem buying me anything quilting related. They know how to google! I was suprised last year with the apple core die for my Accuquilt Go. I had just mentioned in passing that I wanted to make an apple core quilt and Santa brought me the die!

Maggiemay 12-03-2012 06:14 PM

I may have ordered some nice variegated thread to put in my stocking!

Pam B 12-03-2012 06:47 PM

I asked for a Viking Ruby...and I am getting it this week! Yippee for me!!! Please understand that this extravagent of a gift is not the 'norm' in our household but I have been wanting an embroidery machine for so very long and DH said to go for it so I am!

alikat110 12-03-2012 06:48 PM

Santa ( and by that, I mean me!) Is getting me an accuquilt go and several dies (purchased on blackfriday deals). Can't wait for my big Christmas suprise!!!!

Sally J 12-03-2012 06:48 PM

I want another sewing machine with a bigger throat. Since they are expensive I want cash to pay for professional quilting for the really large quilts. Maybe I'll get enough for one. That would be great

francie yuhas 12-03-2012 06:52 PM

I asked for a portable quilting table I can take to retreats and class

SittingPretty 12-03-2012 06:59 PM

Besides some other tools, threads and fabric, I've been thinking about the TruCut rotary blade sharpener. Seems to be almost 50/50 as to whether people think it works or not. Still thinking. Just not sure about spending so much for a blade sharpener.

Jackie Spencer 12-03-2012 07:15 PM

I don't think I have ever gotten anything quilt related for Christmas, but I have received lots of beautiful smiles and seen lots of joy in faces, from the quilts I have given.

COYOTEMAGIC 12-03-2012 07:39 PM

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ so I can go on a shopping spree at MaryJo's, otherwise I have to stay within my nonexistant budget

normasews 12-03-2012 08:03 PM

My dream is to one day purchase a mid-arm quilting machine. I did not ask Santa, at least not this year.

Dolphyngyrl 12-03-2012 08:30 PM

Time to quilt, no really dreaming of it

lillybeck 12-04-2012 04:19 AM

I ask for finances to go to NC for a few weeks but will not get it. I normally go to New Bern NC at the first of the month and come home when I feel like it. I have 2 daughters, 6 GKs and a GGD there plus many friends. I go in Dec. and take the sewing machine, ffabric and a box of crafts. We just have a great time.

dakotamaid 12-04-2012 05:29 AM

A mat on the rotary base. My family has no problem, either, with getting me quilting or sewing supplies. I just send links to some of my wants!! My daughter loves to get me books or GC to Barnes and Noble for my Nook.

janRN 12-04-2012 05:35 AM

I want a new sewing/office chair. The hydraulics in mine don't work and as I'm sewing it keeps sinking lower and lower til my backside is almost on the floor. Quite a sight!! Also wouldn't mind a few LQS gift cards.

Rose Marie 12-04-2012 06:59 AM

I got a gift card for Joanns last year and that was great.

BellaBoo 12-04-2012 07:05 AM

I let the kids and DH buy whatever they think I may want. They would ask what I want and then say you don't want that. LOL. I bought my Christmas to me during the Black Friday online sales. I am stocked up on kits, pre cuts, thread, and new Go dies until the next big sale.

alisonquilts 12-04-2012 07:11 AM

I have asked for a pair of Machingers gloves for machine quilting, and of course for time "off" to quilt!

Alison

Maybe it is because they don't feel comfortable picking those items out. If you have a shop that you would use to purchase those items maybe suggest a Gift Certificate to it so you can choose your own.

mrsponcho1 12-04-2012 07:40 AM

I had been looking and researching the Janome Horizon 7700 for quite awhile and finally purchased one, just before Thanksgiving. Now, if I only had time to sew - I have been working on hand quilting a hand pieced quilt top that my grandmother gave to my ds and ddil. Would like to finish this by Christmas so I can finish another one of her hand pieced tops for my other ds and ddil - that I started late 2005 or early 2006 - life just keeps getting in the way...... I have played with new machine but no projects yet.

gail-r 12-04-2012 07:40 AM

Dear Santa, Please bring me a fat stash of fabric and a skinny body for Christmas and please don't get them confused. I have been mostly good. Gail

EdieClay 12-04-2012 07:46 AM

I am blessed because my adult son called my favorite LQS to purchase a gift card for me for Christmas several years ago. They were so thrilled that he called that they gave him a "dude" discount of 10%. Needless to say, he and my daughter have gone in together for the last several years and given me a big gift card from my LQS. I love it and it is quick and easy for them.

As a newbie to quilting, with an extremely well trained husband, I'm hoping for a few small items in my stocking; acrylic rulers and stuff. I already have a rotary cutter and mat and basic sewing things; is there anything else that I should suggest?

Maybe some marking pens, long quilting straight pins, small pair of scissors and a good seam ripper. Machinigers if you plan to do FMQ.

jlm5419 12-04-2012 08:03 AM

I have an Amazon wish list, which I forwarded to dh. I also discovered you can search for other's wish list by email address, so was able to see what some others would like.

oh yes marking pens would be good, thank you! I seem to have already acquired long pins, can't think why, and the others are part of my dressmaking stash.

I am my own Santa, so bought myself a new sewing machine over the Thanksgiving weekend, and am continuing the spirit of giving (to me) of buying whatever fabric I want. Can't have a new machine without plenty of stuff to sew, says I. I am a frugal person by nature, so when the spending mood grabs me, I go full tilt for a few weeks before coming back to earth. My family does not exchange gifts except for the little ones, so I don't really spend any money. This year I made gifts for the kids, and since I already had the fabric, I call that free.

annthreecats 12-04-2012 09:30 AM

I have to buy my own Christmas gifts which is a good thing, then I get exactly what I want. This year it will be blades for my rotary cutter and more fabric, of course.

Jennalyn 12-04-2012 09:47 AM

Santa-Mom got me the three Accufeed feet for my Janome that I purchased earlier this year, as well as an Ebay collection of 12 Aurifil piecing threads! And the EZ Rule and Companion Angle rulers for using up my slowly building scraps. (I may have helped Santa find them all online...)

Oh my gail... I want that skinny body too! You made me laugh out loud with that those wishes.

I have been drooling over some of these other santa lists too. But, I had better wish for just the couple things I need.

fien777 12-04-2012 10:19 AM

I put direct links to some quiltingbooks on my list.
They just have to click and pay:D

akisan 12-04-2012 10:27 AM

I don't even bother anymore. When I see something I like, I'd go ahead and buy it for myself. Plus I always use coupons . that way I get exactly what I want.

BeckyMSQC 12-04-2012 10:47 AM

Missouri Star Quilt Company has a really Great Daily Deal today. It is a Dresden Plate for 49 Cents...that is 95% off!!!! They also have lots of other specials for their 12 Days of Christmas promotion. http://www.missouriquiltco.com/deal-a-day

DOTTYMO 12-04-2012 11:26 AM

Living alone , put the stocking out but it is never filled. This year training one dog to fill it up with sewing items, especially pins and needles I am always buying more.

My DH and I don't exchange gifts either, but I asked and he agreed that in April I can fly down to my home town Louisville, meet up with my 2 sisters and go to the American Quilt Show in Paducah. My sister called yesterday to tell me she has reserved a 2 bedroom cabin for us to stay in for 2 nights, we will go to the show two days, the third day take in the shops in the quaint Paducah downtown before before driving back home to Louisville. My older sister retired as a teacher so we can use her state employee discount for our cabin, two nights will run us each less than $80. Santa is good to me this year!

mdall 12-05-2012 04:03 AM

Well like some on here DH is not real good with quilting gifts. He is afraid he will get the wrong thing not to mention we live in the sticks so shopping for quilting supplies has to be done online. Online you say, what the problem? DH on the computer is similar to a child trying to conquer a fear of the boogie an. LOL. So he just says order what you would like and wrap it up. Well that's no fun. So this year my quilting guru girlfriend just happened to have one of the items that I want. It's a hemline carring case to take my machine to classes and such. It's still brand new with tags and she doesn't need it. I have told DH to just go to her house if he wishes and the net problem is solved. Hopefully he does. Also I took his advice and ordered myself a another tote for carrying all my other supplies using my 50 percent off coupon from Joanne's. Either way I'm getting something quilt related. I wonder if ordering a LA would be pushing the wrong buttons, after all he did say order what I want. LOL
