Smelly fabric

I have some older fabrics that have that destictive smell. Tried to wash it with just washing powder and no fabric softener, but it is still smelly. What can I use to get that smell out?

Thanks!

Maybe some baking soda with the detergent? I've done that with sweaty gym clothes.

baking soda would be my suggestion too.

I used washing soda with borax. It didn't work. Maybe plain baking soda would be better.

vinegar also works well to *freshen* fabrics...if soda doesn't work try that- (but don't put them together or you will build a volcano!)as in vinegar & soda ;)

the dryer and dryer sheets didn't work? how about oxyclean? takes out everything else. maybe smell also.

I made a washing powder with borax, oxyclean, washing soda, and glycern soap crumbled. It still smells. Washing again with just baking soda. If that doesn't work, I will try vinegar.

Thanks!!

I googled "how to remove smells from fabric". Came up with fill washer full with warm water. Add 2 cups of white vinegar. Let soak for 30 minutes. Then wash as usual. Dry on low until fully dry. Line dry is recomended on sunny days. Will try that if the baking soda doesn't work.

Thanks so much for the help. You gals rock!
