Like Terri I have old dressers I bought at estate sales that hold tons of fabric. I am not organized but there is a method to all this maddness in my room--at least that is what I tell everyone.

HI,
I use peg boards to keep all my rotary cutters, t square, rulers, etc. I run a pretty ribbon through whatever hole they have at the end. I eyeball it but I'd say about 6 inches and tie in a knot.

My husband also got some peg hooks (straighter than the ones I use) for plastic pails which I'm not crazy about but they make a good place for the kids' crayon buckets. Hubby's tall...I am not. Maybe if my boards were lower I'd make better use of them (cool scrap bag/bucket right next to my cutting area...hmmm I'm thinking I need a re-do too) LOL.

I have the rulers and cutters on a peg board above my cutting table. Most of the stash is in plastic totes. I have tons of flannel scraps from all my rag time quilts and I keep that sorted in smaller totes by color, except all the baby pastel is together. The totes work well and I have big, small, and medium it just depends on what is in it. I have a bookcase that I stack some of the totes on. I am moving and will hopefully have a room for quilting. If that happens IKEA has some great bookcases with glass doors that I would like to invest in.

I dont have much money for expensive containers so I shop the dollar store.
I do have a bookcase so I buy the plastic containers that fit fat quarter size and line them up on the shelf.
I have a pegboard for most of my ruler and cutters etc.
I found a letter holder at the dollar store and I put rulers that dont have holes in this.
I have two plastic under bed containers for large pieces of fabric.
Walmart has roll plastic carts that work well and I use one for on going projects.
Fold up plastic crates are good for bags of scraps.
Its an on going problem to find places to put fabrics, no closet room so half to find space wherever I can.
I use a plastic flannel backed tablecloth hung over a curtain rod on the wall for display board.

Rose Marie.. Dollar stores are awesome!! I found these great big wide mouth mugs there not that long ago and made the cutest looking pin cushions from them!!! I also found some really cute iron on transfers that were quilting related that would look really cute on the sides of tote bags!!!

Rose Marie, I love your idea about the flannel backed curtain! If I had the space, I'd definitely put this to good use. I have a question for you about the letter box from the Dollar Store, if you don't mind.
Does this attach to your peg board or do you have it on the wall/table?

It is a metal letter holder with a couple of sections. For $1.00 it is great.
It holds the smaller specialty rulers with no holes for hanging. It sits on a small dresser that is stuffed with fabric.
Being a metal mesh you could wire it to a peg board. I wish I had bought the whole set before they sold out. It was really nice office stuff.
I shop at Dollar Tree. Also 99 Cent Only Stores.
