Hi everbody!
I want to make triangles out of squares. Does anyone know the formula? How much do I cut my squares if I want to have a 3.5" sewn square out of triangles? Am I making any sense? |
Are you talking about corner triangles and side triangle for on point quilts. Check this out

Pinot,
Are you doing setting triangles, or half square triangles, or quarter square triangles? The calculations so far are for setting triangles. If you want to make quarter square triangles and/or half square triangles look at the following: http://www.patchwork-and-quilting.co...triangles.html http://www.patchwork-and-quilting.co...triangles.html |

You're supposed to add 7/8ths of an inch to your finished size to make half square triangles. But they must be sewn very accurately or they'll be a little small. So add a full inch and then square them up. So if the finished size you need is 3 inches cut them 4 inches. You'll then square them up to 3.5 inches and when sewn into your block they'll be 3 inches.
