leave the starch in your quilt top if you want to "baste" with adhesive spray!! At least not with the June Tailor Quilt Basting Spray. So, soon as I can find my tacking gun its back to that! Do any of the other adhesives work better? Too late for this one but for next time as I do love to use starch! Must I have to wash the top first?

I don't use the basting spray since I have a frame but I know I tried to use fusible fleece before and it wouldn't stick, I figured it was the starch.

I tried basting spray and I hated it. I don't know if I used the wrong kind or what but I could not get it off of my fingers! I am going to use my basting gun from now on too.

Might be ok for real big quilts by hand, but don't like it for anything small nor frame quilted.
Maybe for appliqué, but not for myself to use.

I bought a bunch of fusible fleece from Connecting Threads when it was on sale a little while ago...I hope the starch doesn't stop it from fusing...I love to starch too.

I use Best Press and 505 or Sulky basting spray, have never had a problem.

I typically just roll it and use the basting pins as I go along. I have never tried the adhesive stuff before. Interesting, I might try that next round.

Use sizing instead of starch next time?

I've used this before with great success and really liked the product. It may not be the starch....ahhh, that's interesting. I lifted an edge and sprayed the top fabric. No prob, so I resprayed another part of the batting, much better. I did the backing and DD did the top. Think maybe she had it on too shallow an angle and too much air came out of the can with very little adhesive, even tho it felt sticky.

Sure hope that's the only prob because I just remembered the border were not starched and did not stick... *sigh* I is an ongoing journey isn't it!

Same here. Haven't had that problem with mine. Does anyone have the problem with the "homemade starch" and basting spray, I thought I would try it?
