What are you making for your MEN this Christmas???

I have a great start on Christmas gifts for my girls but what can I made for the guys? This is not a quilt year for them! I thought of sleep pants but what else do y'all sew for them?????

I just made my husband a Hawaiian shirt with airplane fabric. (His favorite hobby)

shnnn 11-06-2011 06:54 AM

Bathrobe -- if I can find the box with the pattern in it

mighty 11-06-2011 06:58 AM

I am not sure yet the guys are the most difficult for me.

ibsewhappy 11-06-2011 07:54 AM

I am making a canvas wood carrying thingy-dont't know what you would call it exactly-just know that when hubby brings in wood he carries it close to his body. Thought I would be able to design a canvas carrier that will have handles. NOT a tote bag thing , more like a sling!?!?!?!

NauDeeGal 11-06-2011 08:04 AM

I am making a quilt with all different kinds of fish prints and a short sleeved pocket shirt or two with other fish prints, and replacement boat cushions out of marine grade vinyl.

tanderbear 11-06-2011 08:36 AM

In my house, might as well make it in colors for a female, as men carrying in wood and then cleaning the ashes out the fireplace...roflol

I am making my DH a bowtie quilt in indigo blues in Civil War reproductions and fabrics that look like that or at least I think they do. Also I am going to try and make him some boxer shorts and pj pants from some flannel. I have made my son a fleece blanket before, may make him some pj pants too. I love working on the bow tie quilt since I found a pattern that can be fully machine pieced. My hand sewing skills suck...

I am making my husband and son, an apron, with a matching chef hat, and pot holders. They love to cook! My son actually ASK for a plastic bag holder for all his wal-mart bags to reuse them!

Lori S 11-06-2011 09:35 AM

A padded bag to hold the GPS system , for when they have to take it out of the car, or take it anywhere!

Dolphyngyrl 11-06-2011 09:40 AM

personalized strap for his camera, kindle cover, thats it

CanoePam 11-06-2011 09:41 AM

I'm making a quilt for one son- just a simple random brick pattern since he said he doesn't like "fussy". For my oldest I'm making quilted placemats - he loves to cook and entertain. For a few guys in my office who are big golfers I made luggage handle wraps with a really cute golf tee fabric. They got them early for a long, drawn out reason, but they seemed to really like them.

Great ideas, anyone else?

cindygale 11-06-2011 09:44 AM

how about a tv caddy for all the remotes. that way they are handy at all times

jcrow 11-06-2011 09:47 AM

Every year I give the females in my family a quilt. They have more quilts than I do. But I have also given the males a manly quilt. This year I haven't made any manly quilts so I have no idea what to give them except gift cards to Cabela's.

My son asked me to make him an apron. Luckily, I have some fabric that I think he will like so I don't have to buy any.

I am making slipper boots for all the blokes (men) in the family. I have been saving old pairs of Jeans all year, and have recovered enough material to make the boots from denim. I have loads of brightly coloured and patterned fabrics (Orange, lime green, reds and yellows, with spots and stripes etc, etc) for the linings. Some slipper gripper fabric on the soles, and some old very thin fleece for the wadding (batting) inside (between the denim and the lining). Very Cozy. I have about 15 pairs cut out so far, but need to get a move on if they are all going to be finished in time!

lynnegreen 11-06-2011 01:13 PM

My DH is in a couple of old boys garage rock n roll/blues bands, and he records other old boys, so I got some wild flame fabric and am covering some notebooks for him to use at gigs to hold set lists, music, flyers, email signup sheets and business card holder pages, etc.

SouthPStitches 11-06-2011 01:20 PM

I'm thinking maybe quilted jockey shorts to keep his buns warm while hunting......maybe something in Realtree camo print. Too bad he wouldn't see the humor in it!!!

kriscraft99 11-06-2011 01:22 PM

could make him a flannel pillowcase or a trash bag out of a manly themed fabric for his vehicle

sassey 11-06-2011 05:03 PM

I am making those seat covers that hang on back of car or pickup seats to hold all the vehicle clutter and a matching litter bag

Cagey 11-06-2011 06:39 PM

going to knit socks - camo and blaze orange. Everyone still laughs at my first pair of socks so they're getting them again!

RedGarnet222 11-06-2011 07:04 PM

A quilt and maybe a new checkbook cover.

Mariposa 11-06-2011 09:13 PM

My hubby wants a "long enough" quilt for him to curl up in. It needs to be at least 104" long-he says. So he will get a quick squares quilt, and maybe some flannel pillow cases~

EmbQuilt 11-06-2011 09:21 PM

Quilts, pillowcases, pj pants

sewbeadit 11-07-2011 12:05 AM

Fleece socks, they went over really well a couple of years ago and some fleece lounge pants. Also he likes to wear vests under his coat for added warmth so will make him a couple of those. Liked a lot of your ideas all.

mic-pa 11-07-2011 03:33 AM

I bought several sweat shirts and will embroidery on them also large Bath Sheets and emb. there names on them. One year my son-in-law requested a cast iron kettle to cook in.

Beachbound 11-07-2011 05:25 AM

Guys are so hard to sew for!!! Fleece socks sounds interesting, where did you find the pattern?

Becky Crafts 11-07-2011 05:25 AM

We just ordered some wolf wall-hanging panels yesterday. Was going to order just one for our son, but DH asked for one too! :-) Guess I know what I'm making those two! :-)

EmbQuilt 11-07-2011 02:39 PM

Fleece hats that only have a roundish hole. Can't think of the name but my husband used it for snowplowing and shoveling. Glad I remembered cuz he had asked for one. I think the pattern was in polar fleece pizzaz

mmdquilts 11-07-2011 03:00 PM

a quilted stocking... Harley Davidson fabric, lounge pants and maybe a flannel rag quilt if I have time.

Maggiemay 11-07-2011 03:16 PM

Several years ago I ordered several wallet type thingies for the car to hold your registration & insurance cards. They were maybe 6 x6 & opened up & inside they had 2 clear plastic pockets to put your insurance card on one side & registration on the other. I was thinking that was something I could re-create because all of the guys really liked them- we still have them in our cars.

UH it's the thought that counts... make them out of wool...

Cattyqwltr 11-07-2011 03:34 PM

My gift to my hubby this year will be to finally finish the queen size sampler quilt that was my beginner quilting class project 10 yrs ago. Almost done w/ the quilting then just have to bind it and the 4 of us (2 humans + 2 cats) can curl up under it.

My husband would love that as he is attached to his "pen" that he must have on him all the time

katesnanna 11-08-2011 01:39 AM

Great idea. Ibsewhappy.

deemail 11-08-2011 02:02 AM

all the teens, boys and girls, are getting fingerless gloves (with long-ish fingers)...they love them for texting...

CarrieC 11-08-2011 03:21 AM

Pillow cases for each of my son in laws.

Do you know the little bags with rice that you can add lavender to and then put in the freezer so it is cold or you can heat them for gentle heat? Well I've done that for guys in guy fabric without lavender. It was a hit.
