For those of you quilters with duplicate books, or "extra" books - ask the library if they would like to have them!
Because most quilt books are in "new" condition they like to add them to their shelves...at lest my library did!

Harry: I personally do not know of a website dedicated to selling only used Quilting books, but if you buy them I'm sure you could do well with them here and as an indiviual on 1/2 Price books or as an Amazon seller and also E-Bay. Can you do some research on the titles to see what you have? My main concern is that the seller might have already taken out the "more profitable" titles and left you with a quanity of "less profitable" titles. If you are dealing with a reputable business person, they should give you a chance to look over the inventory. Also take in consideration the time and trips to the post office for books that may only sell for$3-$4. I did this ten years back with videos before DVDs were really popular.

I am selling mine on Amazon, but not getting good prices. I don't believe there is a site just for quilting books, but if you find out, let me know. I also have tons of quilting magazines to sell. Next option is to do my own website, but that takes a lot of time to promote, etc.

Good luck and if you can buy right, do so. They will never go out of style or date.

I usually buy from LQS or borrow from the library. When I was at Mayo Clinic this past July, I went into an antique shop, near the back, I spotted an old cardboard dress box & inside were some quilt booklets, block patterns & actual quilting patterns from a farm woman from the 40's. What a find. I could only purchase a few since I only had alittle money with me, wasn't planning on buying anything. I just couldn't pass this up. Hopedully the rest of the patterns will be there this July & I can get the rest. The woman had actually kept whole cloth patterns that she had drawn on large pieces of paper.

I purchase most books thru Crafterschoice.com, or Connecting threads catalog. I hate to pay full price.

When I started collecting, I went through the Quilter's Bookclubs and bought a lot of books at full price. I would look for books at thrift shops and yard sales. I also bought on sale at Joann's. I had to have everything printed for awhile.

Now, I buy online through Amazon or other auctions (not Ebay) and only at a great price. I buy very few now because I can get so many great patterns and things online. I also go to the library and see what they have there.

Guess it is because I have so many books and magazines from my previous life. Now I want to sell them and make up my own designs using EQ....

Thru the years quilting techniques have changed so much and although many patterns have been adapted from template to strip and rotary cutting I found I gave away many books that I no longer used.
Many cities have quilt shows and lots of quilt books and years of Quilters Newsletters magazines etc. But knowing which books are good, meaning good directions and measurements that are true is difficult until one has some experience.

ebay.com will show lists of new and used but you can specify.
Publishers may be the way to go and contact them. Depends on what you wish to do?

I just want to say thanks for the responses and want to give you a little update. I am going forward with the quilting book website. It is definitely a lot of work. I have only input about a hundred titles so far and I would guess we have about 900 to 1000 more to go. I named the site www.discountquiltbooks.com. Right now my kitchen looks like a library. I would expect it will take at least a month to input all the info. I will post an update when it is up and running.
