Which would you choose?

I am working on the Tradewinds pattern and can't decide which batik to use as the "background". I think I like them both, but don't want to start cutting till I'm sure. Which would you choose?

I like #1. Either would be fabulous!

intoquilting 01-21-2013 05:10 PM

I like 1. I think it blends better with the fabrics.

alikat110 01-21-2013 05:13 PM

#1 matches the warmth of the other fabrics. #2 is a cool fabric.

mighty 01-21-2013 05:14 PM

Both are pretty, I really like 1 best.

Cybrarian 01-21-2013 05:16 PM

For me the first one is much more pleasing to the eye with the combination of your fabrics so 1 vote for #1.

alikat110 01-21-2013 05:18 PM

Should add.....the other fabrics contrast with #2 and your pattern pops up due to this. Both would work based on what you want to accomplish.

Suzette316 01-21-2013 05:20 PM

I have surprised myself by actually preferring the second one. I really like the first one, it's very warm and tones down your batiks, but something about that cool white fabric in number two really makes your batiks "pop"!

I don't think you can go wrong either way. Both are gorgeous! If warm is what you're going for then number one. If you really want to make the batiks stand out and shine, then number two gets the job done beautifully. :)

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 01-21-2013 05:20 PM

#1 is more restful. #2 has more pop. Personally, I like the look of #1.

barny 01-21-2013 05:23 PM

I like the warmer color. Not the white. It blends really well.

Tothill 01-21-2013 05:23 PM

#1 is warmer to me. I would choose it.

Annaquilts 01-21-2013 05:27 PM

Here is another one for the cool blue number 2. It makes the pattern pop. I do not like the yellowness of one, the pattern and how blended it is with the other fabrics.

By the way both are good options. It all depends what you are trying to achieve.

auntpiggylpn 01-21-2013 05:31 PM

I like quilts that pop. That being said I like #2 the blue. The first block is very muted. I guess you will have to decide if you want the batiks to pop or just melt into each other

Prism99 01-21-2013 05:33 PM

I'd go with #1. For me, #2 is too icey for the tropical looking batiks.

Wanabee Quiltin 01-21-2013 05:36 PM

I do like both fabrics, but the white makes your batiks stand out.

lots2do 01-21-2013 05:39 PM

Another vote for 2!

hopetoquilt 01-21-2013 05:44 PM

#1 is my vote.

Quiltaddiction 01-21-2013 05:55 PM

I like the yellow because it is warm and goes with the other fabrics.

KwiltyKahy 01-21-2013 06:12 PM

i like #1 best

TinkerQuilts 01-21-2013 06:16 PM

I like #2 best. It looks so refreshing, and maybe cuz my favorite color is blue?

They are both very nice tho, tough decision . . .

MamaBear61 01-21-2013 06:17 PM

Whew, that is a tough one but I think I would choose the second one.

bigdogmom 01-21-2013 06:17 PM

#1 is calming,#2 makes the colors pop. I like #1 best.

ditto from me

I like #1. It is going to be very pretty.

Andrea19711 01-21-2013 07:21 PM

I really like #2. But either way your block is beautiful.

MimiBug123 01-21-2013 07:25 PM

The white looks too stark against the warm colors of the fabrics. I love the look of the first one. They colors all work very well together.

love to sew 01-21-2013 07:33 PM

The first one looks the best to me.

cowgirlquilter 01-21-2013 07:34 PM

I think the creamy one would be best but either would be amazing.

leakus 01-21-2013 07:39 PM

You have gorgeous fabrics so cannot go wrong, both contrast. My personal choice is #1

Thumbelina 01-21-2013 07:54 PM

I like #2 it gives more of a pop.

Lori S 01-21-2013 07:56 PM

I am in love with Number 1.

JENNR8R 01-21-2013 08:01 PM

No. 2 - White

raynhamquilter 01-21-2013 08:05 PM

I like #1 but you have to choose

Dina 01-21-2013 08:09 PM

Well, I like both, and you sure have had a lot of votes go for one or the other. I am just curious...which one did you choose??? :)

Dina

TeresaS 01-21-2013 08:11 PM

I like both the fabrics..but I do like number 2 the best.

Marilynsue 01-21-2013 08:18 PM

#1 makes the block look richer.

Singerjr 01-21-2013 08:24 PM

The first goes so well with the other colors. It seems to support them

EdieClay 01-21-2013 08:44 PM

Like almost everyone else ... I like the beige (#1) best. It is warmer and works better with the fabric. Your quilt is going to be gorgeous!

owlvamp 01-21-2013 09:00 PM

#1 for me.

sylviak 01-21-2013 10:18 PM

Have you already decided on a border? If so, put both blocks up against it and look at them again. Do you prefer warm or cool look?
