I have 100 6" squares, what size quilt can I make out these? And how did you fiqure it out? I am no good at math. Help!

If you made it 10 squares by 10 squares you would have a piece 55.5 by 55.5 inches. (10 x 10 = 100 and 6 inch square when sewed with 1/4 seam allowance becomes a 5 1/2 square. 5 1/2 x 10 = 55.50 inches)

Is this a clear as mud?

That's not as big as sounded. I thought it would make a huge quilt, I guess I need another 100.

What I do sometimes is just laying a few of the blocks out on my bed for maybe the amount that I am thinking of using to help get a visual keeping in mind that it won't be that big because of the seam allowances. But then again you could do a smaller center block of 5 rows by 5 rows then put a border around that and then add more blocks. Your border could be any size you want to take up more room. Lots of different options out there.

If you do a 10 x 10 square layout - (5.5 x 5.5 inch sewn size) - you would end up with a 55 x 55 inch top

If you do a 9 x 11 square layout - you would end up with a 49.5 x 60.5 inch top (this would use 99 squares)

If you do an 8 x 12 square layout - you would end up with a 44 x 66 inch top (this would use 96 squares)

the six inch cut squares "finish" to 5.5 (5-1/2) inches

so multiply 5.5 x (number of squares) to get a dimension

Or multiply 11/2 x (number of squares) to get a dimension

sounds like enough for a throw. I just made one for my mail lady using charms, added frame and border. Its 45 by 56".

I have been using the 10 minute block and it sews up nicely with the 6" squares [will need 5 because of the center]. just a thought.
