Looks like a straightforward pattern with either a 6" square block next to a 9-patch block made from 2 1/2" strips with a 4" wide border; or a 9" square block next to a 9-patch block made from 3 1/2" strips with a 5-6" border. The tricky part will be fabric placement in the 9-patch blocks to line up with the solid square blocks as you assemble the quilt. Cute quilt, thanks for posting it. Would be a great scrappy pattern too.

Actually, that pattern is a lot simpler than it looks. You would need one big square and four little squares for each fabric you use (not counting background). Wherever you have a given fabric, you'd add one small square into the nine patches adjacent to it. You'd want to keep things organized, but it wouldn't be hard...And yes, I'd say that's Kaffe Fassett fabric – gorgeous! The quilt could be made with two layer cakes, one cut to 9.5" and the other cut in four 3.5" squares.

I too think that the fabric is from Kaffe Fassett. The size of you quilt depends on the size of the block. I actually see an 9 patch and a square piece of fabric. Might be easier for you to piece that way. Might actually be done with a set of fat quarters. Your main square can easily be 6" finished or 9" finished.

If you let me know the exact finished size of quilt you want (some people want a certain amount of "drop") - and what block size you want, I would be happy to whip up one in EQ7 and post the yardage, rotary cutting. This is an old pattern, from before the 1930's. For size:
Mattress: 39" x 75:
Short Drop: 65" x 88"
Long Drop: 81" x 107" Note: most single packaged batting is 72" x 90"
I can whip it up in about 30 min or so.
