This is on a DSM. Do you charge by the square inch? I recently assembled some quilt blocks, quilted and bound a quilt for someone. Am just wondering what one charges these days for machine quilting. Thanks for any help.

There are many things that would influence the charge. Can you give more information on what kind of quilting, etc...

The quilt started out as a QAYG. It is all hand pieced. I finished up a small amount of applique, sashed a few blocks that were not, assembled the blocks and then quilted it on my DSM. I pretty much SITD all the blocks. I added a little flourish here and there to fill the empty spaces on the blocks and highlight certain areas. I quilted an "egg and dart" pattern in the sashing and a simple pattern in the borders. The maker will be 92 in a couple weeks. I have no idea when she started this but her daughter wanted to get it finished and give it to her so she could enjoy it. What do you think?

From what I have seen most quilters charge by the square inch.
The quilt is a real beauty.

prices vary vastly by location- expertise- size of project- everyone charges differently-
some people charge anywhere from 1 1/2 cents to 2 1/2 cents a square inch some charge by the foot- some charge by the project-
some add a charge for the thread- keeping count of bobbins used with a basic amount per bobbin- some include the thread-
call around your area and see what quilters are charging- then figure out what seems fair to you.
