I would also audition a bleached and an unbleached muslin, also recommend a good quality muslin. One that I have used for a Sun Bonnet Sue and was very satisfied with is Southern Belle by Springs... Rock-lon also has a 200 count and have used it in some projects.

Pthe end of the bolt, where the price, fiber content, width information is located should also state thread count. Many quilting cottons are 60 count. Sheets tend to be 200+.

To me, white muslin gives a crisper look with black.
