It seems as if everyone gets one of my quilts but me. Been trying to make myself one and then someone in the family gets preg. and happily calls me to let me know their theme. Or gets married happily tells me what colors they likeEsle it is time for Christmas making and mine gets put on the back burnner. LOL, I dont seem to have your problem.
I need a few for my guest room and for the 3 blow up beds, I am forever having SIL,Nieces,Friends form Florida for a visit. Luckly I have a large house. Bonnie :D

I hear ya on that. I actually have a red, white & blue quilt I'm working on now, which is planned on being mine (my birthday is July 5th).
I did buy a quilt kit a little while back for a black and white quilt which I also decided is MINE (never bought a quilt kit before). I do have the fabric all washed, but that is as far as it has gotten.
The red, white and blue is from one of the BOM from here, the Scottish Cross.

I usually give mine away but this time I am working on something for me.. A version of the dahlia (sp) in reds and blues. I started it more than 10 years ago and just started back on it. I have enough fabric cut out for 30 blocks. Six of them are done ,appliqued and I am suing them for the cusions for our porch swing. That leaves 24 more for a big bed size quilt. I am working on it in spurts between other things, but at least it will be mine one day.

I saturated family and friends with them. My kids each have about 4 quilts, and our walls are covered with wall hangings. I've made some for neighbor' kidss and even students. So now I try to sell them. I'll be doing a craft show in November to promote my work.

The quilts might be given to a charitable organization for a raffle. There was one that had won a prize in a quilt show and was given to our local Symphony orchestra last year. They raffled it off and made over $2500.00.

There's no end to giving anything away, but quilts are special and should be given to special people and causes. Charity giving is wonderful. I like women's shelters because those women have so little that they can hold on to for comfort.
My mom is embroidering one that will be raffled to cover the expenses of a family reunion. Everyone is really looking forward to having an opportunity to own one of her special quilts.

I have made quilts for the local childrens hospice and there are old peoples homes who would welcome quilts because the folks feel the cold not being able to move around much. There is also a charity called the Linus project. You may have one in your area

I've made a quite an few lap and baby quilts for one of the children's hospitals in town for their chronically ill children. The rest have gone to family and friends. We have 6 great grand children! I only have one for us, but The next 2 will be ours! I have a couple of rag quilts that I use for furniture covers to protect the upolstery from the cats!
I have made a few quilts for the Quilt Guild too. They distribute them to various children's organizations. It is a very rewarding hobby!
