I saw an ad in the McCalls Quilting magazine for an app for the ipad or iphone that enables you to "audition fabrics and colors" in blocks. I went to the website, QuiltersApp.com, listened to the video for the iphone, which is what I have.
Evidently you can load photos of your stash into the app and use the inventory of blocks in the app to place fabric choices into the various pieces of the block. You can add sashing, with or without cornerstones, too. You can turn blocks on point and add setting triangles, also. It really looks awesome. It costs $20 for the phone, and I think it's $25 for the ipad, but I'm not sure. I didn't pay as much attention there.
Has anyone bought this?

Holy Moses. I have never paid that much for an app and probably never would. That is high. For me, the iphone would be way too small to do that anyway and I could do it in EQ on my computer. Maybe for the ipad it wouldn't be so bad. I still wouldn't pay that for it though.

I have more free time waiting then I do when I'm home so this app seems perfect for me. I'm going to check it out. There is a nice app called The Block Tool that I use a lot. The rest of the quilt apps that are available are not that useful to me.
I watched the video and I got the app. DH asked if I wanted to go out and eat tonight and I said no thank you, let's have a simple supper here. I saved much more then the $20 the app cost so the app was free! :-D

Ok, BellaBoo, now you have to let us know what you think of it. I, too, have The Block Tool, but it is very limited. It shows only blocks with set colorations. YOu can't change or upload your own colors or fabrics.
Yes, I could do it in EQ, but if I visualize using it at the store to play around with fabrics before I buy them. Maybe I can rationalize it by saying I won't be buying fabric that doesn't fit my stash. Of course, it would take quite a while to enter all the fabric I have. I don't know if I'll buy it, but it's something to think about. Please let me know if you really like it.
