This sounds adorable! A somewhat easy pattern and a great one for someone whose personal interests you may not be familiar with!

I am with the others, a jar quilt was my very first thought.

My daughter collected fat quarters on our various roadtrips across Canada, she was only 9 when she started! She made sure to get food that she liked (hmmmm no veggies in there?).

She hasn't finished her quilt yet (she is 13 now) but she's accomplished a lot. Attached is a picture of it on the design wall. Her name is Lisa so it was easy for her to convert to blocks. She cut all her blocks at 6 inches.

What a neat way for Lisa to remember those road trips! Great eye candy....

You might want to give this Snack Attack quilt a try. I did it a couple of years ago. Carol Steely over at FunThread.blogspot.com wrote the pattern.
You can find it here at
http://www.quiltwoman.com/Carol-Stee...s-Designs.aspx
and you can see more photos of my quilt at
http://moosestashquilting.blogspot.c...ck-attack.html

There are just a riot to make and might be perfect for your collection of snack fabrics.
